I just watched the new episode of Wheeler Dealers. Sorry, youtube only has teasers, but if you are really determined you'll find ways... Anywho, at the end of it Edd uses his phone to see if he can match the factory 0-60 times. I want such an app! Badly!
In one of the last Fithgear episodes Jason Plato proved that a simple service (oil change, etc.) can shave off maybe 0.1 or 0.2 of a second of the 0-60 time. I'd like to try that out myself. I have a little bit of money left over and I'm planning on doing the wise thing and spending some of it on preventative maintenance on my car before wasting the rest of it on hookers and blow or whatever. Oil, air filter, and spark plugs are definitely on the list maybe something more. We'll talk about that soon, as I'd like to pick your brains on what to do as well, but more of that later. As my car isn't exactly that fast, a small percentage might bring an actual gain that can be measured? Let's don our hard hats and safety vests and find out!
All I need is an app that measures 0-60 and the likes via GPS. Any recommendations?
Disclaimer: I live in a rural area and there are many many backroads that don't see any traffic at all. They might not be even but I can do a few runs uphill and downhill before and after and see if there is any measurable difference.

I just watched that episode and was wondering the same thing - what's that cool app he's using? Obviously it uses the phone's built-in accelerometer.

WE NEED TO FIND OUT! I thought that it was GPS triggered, but who knows?

I've just been researching the subject myself. I downloaded Dynolicious yesterday and will be giving it a test run tonight. I'll let you know how it performs.

I use Torque, you have to buy a obd2 bluetooth scanner for acess to stuff like code scanner, and live reading from sensors. Torque is for android . Even with out a ob2 it used GPS for speed and stuff, worth the $5 on the play store

Even without the OBDII scanner, it can do plenty.

There's an app called Dynolicious that works ok. I think it's $9.99

Cool! Thanks!

^what he said. There's a free version, but I think you need the paid version to do 0-60 timing.

I've downloaded one, but I'm not sure what it's called. Not particularly accurate, although that might be the GPS signal in my area. It consistently takes about 2 seconds to kick in, the result of which is that it thinks my Alfa will do 0-60 in 5ish seconds.
Yeah, that's not right.

On Android, I use Dynomaster. It has a good number of options and it's fairly inexpensive. You can configure it to automatically start the timer when you launch (using your phone's accelerometer) so you can eliminate your reaction time from the result.

Everyone should pony up for the adapter and the pro version of Torque. It packs a few hundred dollars' worth of diagnostic equipment into something the size of your thumb (because you'd have your phone on you, anyway). It even gave me something to do on a long road trip this week. I rode passenger and watched all sorts of data streams from the ECU in real time.
"Honey, slow down."
"I wasn't speeding!"
"I have geosynchronous satellites AND the car's computer both telling me how fast you're going right now."
"I wasn't speeding... much."

You could try this Android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/det… , is very easy to use and for normal cars should be quite accurate.
