SHOW ME YOUR GARAGE!(implies picture pls)
I'm curious to see what kinda garages we all have. Here's mine(my parents technically), nothing special, a bit cramped and boring. It's also very messy and needs a good spring cleaning.

About to collapse. It's basically a large shitty shed.
My A4 and the Gw stay outside, because I don't trust that thing.

Dirt. Old project, currently patching the holes from the rain from the not-garage that I don't park in.

A messy spot with two motorcycles. It's a bit cleaner now, shot taken in summer.

Excuse my inability to identify cars by their rear ends, but what are those?

Sorry, I would post a picture. Yet I can't see shit because it's dark.

Sixth gen Civics, I think.

That is a considerably large garage!

I've got loads and loads of garage porn

I'm guessing Garage #2 is work related....

The first one's a rented space in an old warehouse. As it turns out race cars/race car parts need lots of room.

At the moment this:
It's a bit of a mess. Got bits of cars all over it. The block from a 106 Rallye, a 106 GTi 16v engine on a stand, a 5-speed Jaguar gearbox, a Spitfire gearbox, a TR6 overdrive 'box, two Spitfire diffs, a Spit chassis on the floor and body winched to the ceiling. Then, up on a storage level up top it's got the rest of the Triumph, various 106 GTi suspension bits, bits for a Jag manual conversion, Biturbo body panels
In short, there's too much for the dinky little space. So, once we've finished building my sister's stables I'll build myself a honking great 6-berth garage plus the single-berth tall garage we've got at the moment.
It's going to be epic :)
We've got a little two-berth open low garage next to it that we're going to level and build over. It's going to be flush with the front of the tall garage you can see in these pics:

Nah, just a hobby really. Why do you ask?
(Seriously though, yes it is)

That's a plan for a garage! I wish we had at least a 3 car garage right now. We use to be able to fit 2 cars and a motorcycle at my house; now, only one car, a motorcycle and a shit ton of well, shit. Spring cleaning is gonna take care of that wall of trash in the middle of mine.

Outside parking. FTMFL.
At least I have a proper car park with moderately respectful neighbors (no asshat parking).
I wrench on my car in public like a boss. And by "wrench" I mean only minor stuff, and upgrades.
The Base DOES have an "auto hobby shop", which is 9 bays, with lifts. $5 per hour. I assume that's a good rate. I do the bigger stuff there.

OT...Professional Cars are cool as hell. The amount of work that was put into them is really something. Especially when compared to the clapped out pre-1995 Grand Caravan Sport (remember those...they had grey bottom cladding and 5 spoke wheels?) with some landau panels stuck over the rear most set of windows that I saw leaving the hospital a few months back...

This is looking to be the best garage here! unless someone here has a Magnus Walker style garage, because Porsche.

Excuse the terrible potato pictures, if you would. Here is my humble garage. It's not much, but it does the job. Just cleaned the entire thing out two weeks ago and turned it into a workshop for my Bug. The wood frame you'll see is a table I built that I have yet to get a top for. I'm going to be using that for parts and tools.
My favorite part of the garage (besides the Baja Bug, of course) is my speaker set up.
Got all theses speakers at an estate sale for less than $30 and they are loud as shit. Perfect for blasting Zeppelin when I'm working on the Bug.

There's definitely an incredible amount of craftsmanship in the coach cars, and like the luxury car segment it's constantly improving and becoming more impressive. Our '02 is nothing to scoff at, but we rented a new MKT hearse last year and it was worlds beyond ours.
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:34 |

Bright red with plenty of storage for detailing supplies and basic mechanics tools.
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:36 |
|
Thanks :) I'm very grateful for the ability to cock about with cars as much as I do
It's surprising how quickly just random shit piles up isn't it? That doesn't change when you get more space. It just seems to accumulate quicker to offset the acreage.
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:37 |
|
I dig the MKT, people have often compared it to a hearse, so, I suppose that's fitting.
I've always loved the idea of having a restored older flower car or hearse one day. Not because I have some macabre fascination with death, or because I want to plati-dip the car black and put skulls on it, but because they're fuckin cool.

That is nice! And those speakers must go nice with it as well. I wish I had that much space to work on my dad's 911. Because of the lack of space, if something goes wrong with it in the winter, I can't pull it out and work on it.
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:41 |

That's what came across my mind...The rear looks similar to a Civic Hatch a friend of a friend of mine has.

That is a tad bit messy; nice bike though!

I rent a simple parking spot when I'm in college, so here's my parents' garage:
And the ole Tipo sitting on his usual corner
That wide open space in the second picture used to be occupied by this, before it was finished and delivered.
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:45 |

That's cool! not sure what a good rate for a hobby shop is though, but still neat regardless!
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:45 |

The trick is finding one that's in good nick but at the same time not obscenely expensive.
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:46 |

Umm I don't follow. Is this a moment when I should say "Kinja'd" or "Tiger'd"? Or do you mean Oppo is your garage...
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:46 |
|
Thanks! The speakers are a great addition. I get bored working out there without music, so with something playing I lose track of time and get a lot done!
My garage doesn't look any bigger than yours is, honestly. The perspective is all out of whack because the Bug is so small. If you gave your garage a good cleaning and organizing, I'm sure you'd have plenty of room to wrench on the 911. Hanging things on the walls and shelving will be your best friend when you clean up, trust me. Before I cleaned it all up, I literally wasn't able to walk all the way around my car without having to climb over a mountain of crap. Now it's like an entirely different space. Clean up! Good luck!
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:49 |

Kinja'd/Tiger'd would be appropriate. :p
It's fixed now though.

Hold on to your pants, guys.
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:51 |

Umm that's a garage/workshop/secret base/I want it/gimmie/biggest garage here! :P
I could fit every car I want in it and have space to work on all of them!
![]() 03/19/2014 at 21:53 |

Yeah, BUT, every time a "budget crisis" hits this country, all the Base MWR (morale, wellfare, readiness) facilities are the first to close. Including things like the auto shop, family support, commissary... things that people who LIVE on base, you now, need.
But yeah, when the place is open, it's great. They have an on-duty mechanic who will help and/or provide expertise for anywhere ranging from free, to $40/hr, depending on your rank and pleasantness. No up-selling or shady practices since it's on base.
Oh, and free tools too. Every bay has a few of the big roller Craftsman cabinets, with every wrench, socket, puller, torque wrench, stands, etc... that said, I bring my own handtools, because snobbery :P

Damn! so shiny! I'm not a fan of C4s but that one is gorgeous! And that Viper! What's up top under the covers?

Nah, the first one with the buttloads of Mustangs and the Cobra is ours. The humoungo one with the Vettes is a friend. Same with the Mopar garage.

Ah, ok. I feel a little better now. If the same person owned all three I would have suffered volcanic levels of jealousy

Up top is a Six-Pack Challenger I believe. And the green is a real Hemi 'Cuda.
I've got nothing with Porsches, sorry. I know a guy with a barn full of shit that includes a DeTomaso Pantera, an E60 M5, an Alpina B7, SS454, AMG Hammer, numerous less rare muscle cars and 30s-40s cars, and 4, count them, 4 Sunbeam Tigers
Sadly no pictures.
Theres another guy (reclusive collector) that has a room, A FULL ROOM, a classic Rolls-Royces along with a china cabinent full of the crazy hood ornaments. Hell even in the hallway, he had 2 Ford GTs, a GT3, and a Viper.
Sadly, no pictures allowed.

Each collection on its own is too much for one person. I can't even imagine what one would do with that many cars..

Typical two car garage
These lights are pretty great though.

it is as Argent says, a 96 and an '00 Civic.

It used to be my grandfather's metallurgy shop, back before he retired, so, yeah, there's a lot of space there... :p
A friend of my father came up with the idea of starting a small shop to build and fix airplanes a few years ago, all that stuff's kind of makeshift, but, this being Brazil and all, you gotta do with what you get. There's a full set of tools and benches on the back, which is the main workspace, the enclosed space to the right in the second picture is a paint booth, pretty simple, but it has an exhaustion system on the back, then there's the planes on queue for service and not pictured is a secondary room which stays locked most of the time and contains stripped Lycoming engine blocks and parts for assembly, and a second room, also usually locked, with a small autoclave for carbon fiber processing. And then there's our cars, which are kind of just hanging out there chillin' :p

Here's my garage in VA at my old house (I moved to NYC last year), I own a couple of the bicycles but the fun stuff is my brothers. Check out his tumblr if you want to see more, and give him shit for not getting more done on his project, although he has done more than he has posted. jimmyloughlin.tumblr.com

Hahah I'm not that young! To be serious, right now there is many bikes (not motorcycle, bike), shelves with things on them, baskets with things in them, my brothers (190e30-i5 High five on here) 1991 Audi Coupe Quattro, my dads '82 Mustang GT and my moms LR3. Heres a picture when it was even more cool.
From left to right: Real '79 black and gold Trans Am, e39 M5, and e30 M3. I think this is the best picture I have of the garage.

Add a b to mine and that's what it is. Garbage. I'd show a picture but I'm too ashamed of it. My mother is a hoarder to the nth degree and I kind of just put my stuff in the leftover space. I tried cleaning it once. It woke the sleeping beast.
![]() 03/21/2014 at 08:46 |

Look at my garage; that's about 6+ years of hoarding at storage. :P
The only redeeming factor about that garage is that 911 in the corner! It's due for cleaning soon..

I can't even fit a go-kart in mine anymore, let alone a car. :( Although this thread is inspiring me to have a garage clean-out day!
