This is one of my favorite "hot wheels" that has survived my youth. It's now in the custody of my 6 year old who continues to play with it. It's 100% diecast metal (except the wheels, of course). All of the "modern" planes I've given to him have plastic wings and tails. That very first pic on top is my favorite of the images I've created so far. I feel like I've come a long way from !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I was also messing around with the lighting and took this picture of a Tucker Torpedo (model from 2008):

That picture was just taken with natural light in my backyard shed with the door open a crack. :)

If you are interested, here are some earlier "editions" of this series: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Thanks for looking and please let me know what you think!

Due to "quirks" in "new" Kinja I am cross-posting with my (quite rarely updated) blog: HeThoughtOfCars.com

That 747 is great. Somewhere I have a Swissair DC-10 that I got on my first flight in 1978...

Did they give you a model when you got on the plane??

They did. I think we were on USAir at the time. I remember being disappointed because my dad told me that it wasn't a model of the plane we were on, that we were on a DC-9 instead.

Sharp kid. :) It's probably because of cases like that when they just switched to kids' plastic buttons with the logo of the airline on them instead of the models. (Who could argue with that!) In any case, and I'm not saying it was one hundred percent your fault for certain, but you probably ruined hundreds, perhaps thousands, of little kids first time boarding of a Jet. Clearly, you are a horrible, horrible person. :P

Nah...I loved everything about that experience. My dad and I got to go up to the cockpit, and then I got to say hi to my mom over the intercom. If anything, my disappointment was like, "Oh....ok."

My brother and I each had one of those Matchbox Pan Am 747s when we were kids. I don't know what happened to them. I'm pretty sure we played with them to destruction, and they got tossed. :(

I've got that HW Tucker hanging right in front of me at my desk now, I love them because that's my name. Clever shot with the lighting!

That Pan-Am 747 is way cool. One of my favorite toys as a kid was a Pan-Am 747 model, not a Matchbox, but it still makes me nostalgic.
