The clutch on my Accent went out this weekend and the lowest quote we got was $1,225. There goes my new wheels and lowering kit. Have a GTR for your troubles

Sounds like a good time to buy a couple of jack stands and a service manual, along with some tools. Find a friend who has done a FWD clutch before and get your hands dirty. It's labor intensive but it's also really not that complicated of a thing.

Totally no offense, but clutches don't usually "go out" — they are ruined. Re-visit your shifting technique. Do you downshift when you're just going to stop? That's dumb. Do you downshift a lot without double-clutching? That'll kill your clutch and your transmission synchros. A clutch should last 100,000 or more if driven well.

Wait, I'm sorry. You were going to put new wheels and a lowering kit on your Accent? Since your clutch went out, I assume it's an older one? Like this?
Please tell me I am wrong.
Either way that sucks to have to replace the clutch...

Is that what it costs? Must be mostly labor right?

it is an older one like that I was going to put bigger wheels to replace the 13'' steelies on it now. I was also going with a lowering kit so I can stiffen the rubber suspension and reduce body roll, but with the clutch needing replacement those two are off the table.

Yea it's pretty much all labor
