It SUCKS!! How do some people maintain their patience? It boggles the mind!

I think this is the most impatient I've ever been in my life! Time has been moving so much slower for as I finally get my ST in this week! I've been so bored in fact, I've been looking at other cars that interest me; and you what does? the freaking 2015 Mustang! It looks sexy, those taillights, much want! I try to stop looking at those pictures and videos of it and then I saw NFS last night and it made me mentally rethink the ST, because god dammit Mustangs can be cool sometimes. And this Mustang in particular now has the #2 spot on my most gorgeous looking cars I want; far behind a 3.2 911 Carrera and a '69-70 Mustang Fastback or Mach 1.

I would want this Mustang in this color(And yes, I'd be that guy to take the 4 cylinder):

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

So I propose a hypothetical scenario. Let's say you were me, an 18 year old, waiting anxiously for your Focus ST. You see the 2015 Mustang and fall in love with the design and are excited to see it on the road. If your new car was already on the lot for you to see and eventually pick up, would you have that back thought that you really wanted to wait for the 2015 Mustang when it comes out, or just move on knowing you've got a great car anyway? Or would you lament the day you bought that ST and wish you could trade in that hot hatch immediately for the new pony? provided that your insurance wouldn't kill you in payments...

Now I'm not actually gonna do that, I don't have the money or power to do so(dreaming) but what if...

I would be very happy if I was 18 getting a new Focus ST.

You're very lucky. I'd look at it this way: the Mustang isn't going anywhere and will continue to get better and better every year. The more you wait the better.

Also how can you even afford insurance? I don't think an insurance company would cover me at 18 if I ever got a new Mustang haha.

It's true that the Mustang won't be going anywhere anytime soon, but this generation is by far, the best looking one yet; even more so than the more retro 2010-14 models!

And I'd agree that I'm a very luck person right now; this is simply the best thing that's happened to me in a very long time. But I think of it like I do with the 911; the best looking 911 for me was the G-Series of the 70s and 80s with the impact bumpers. That to me, was the last good looking 911(that's not to say the others are bad, not at all! they are good looking cars as well, but not in the sense or feeling I get when I see a G-Series. With this new Mustang, it is that 911 with the impact bumpers.

Now the insurance question, one word: parents. I'm not scott-free on this though; I've agreed to make half the payments on the car for the entire time I have it. And for me, the ST was only $50 more than the regular Focus which shocked me! But I also have a clean record so that may explain some.

Oh there's no way in hell I'd be able to own or even handle a GT right now! I know I like power, but this is the only time I'll admit that there's potential danger in giving me a V8 pony car of this caliber. I'd take the Ecoboost Mustang please. :P

Buy the ST and flip it for the Mustang when it's out.

You're 18, work your ass off, sell blood, eat ramen for a year.

I know what I'm dreamin about tonight! That would be cool to have both, i it were not impractical for me because I don't have my own house or garage or a place to park two cars :P

I like the ecoboost but most people call me a communist retard for not wanting a v8 in my muscle car

I mean this generation will still be around for several years to come. Not to mention you will be able to find a much cheaper used one in a year or two.

Enjoy that ST. I know I would.

To those people I say Hogwash! It's your car, who cares what people say about it! Even the "Mustang fanatics" or those that think the only true muscle car is one with a V8 in it; I don't buy that nonsense and never will! Are V8s awesome? yes. Do they sound badass? Hell yeah they do! but if it's not what you want/need or it's impractical then don't get one and get what suits you or what you know will be best for the long term! :)

That is true! Why does it seem that waiting is always the best thing to do? Because it is? I'll never know. What kinda car do you drive?

You'll save a fortune on the Stang if you drive the ST for now and pick one up CPO in a few years. Let someone else get bent over by depreciation on the Stang, enjoy your ST, get a better deal on insurance when you do get the Stang because you're older. Also, the way new gens of mustang sell in the first year, you will likely pay quite a bit over sticker as Ford scrambles to meet demand. Remember when the 05 mustang came out, the average time one spent on the lot was what, 30 mins? Play smart and let someone else lose that money.

Actually, I'm quite new to the dealership business; this is my first new car and I don't know much about how dealers make their money or how the system works. But I do know how depreciation hits when you drive a car off a lot. It is much more logical to wait for a CPO Stang than a brand-spankin new '15.

What happened with the '05 Mustang? I also just realized I loved cars a couple months ago believe it or not, so I'm also marginally new to the entire world of cars as a whole. :p

Waiting is, trust me.

I have a couple of cars but my dd is a Lincoln LS.

Kinja'd!!!

I'm still putting myself through college but I should be able to treat myself to a new car/new to me car pretty soon.

That LS looks like a pretty nice car if you ask me; being a Lincoln and by extention, a Ford to an extent. My current DD is and will soon be "was" a Saturn Astra.

To put it mildly, they sold like the proverbial hotcakes. As soon as a truck full of them came in, the ones that weren't already spoken for would sell. Usually that day. And definitely in the next two. It took nearly a year for sales to slow down. Errybody wanted the new Stang. As a result, much like the recent C7 Vette, dealers were adding markups, since the car would sell no matter what, some truly ridiculous bank was made. And then the cars depreciated like crazy. You can get an 05 or 06 with reasonable mileage for less than 6 grand now, not even a decade later.

Geez that's just as crazy as the day halo reach came out at my local gamestop. I was lucky I reserved one months in as mace because they were on back order after they came out.

Yeah. I reckon the new Stang will sell likewise. Looks like I'll be waiting a couple more years! But it'll be for the best in the end. I've got so many cars I want to have at once on my list, it drives me crazy as to how I'll even get them all haha. Money and timing almost work hand in hand.
