Yeah no. 100k is when everything goes wrong on speed6es. Be careful. Even at 10k, it can be expensive to do a ton of maintenance. Ask for paperwork of maintenance and services done. Without any, run away. Run very far away.

The Speed6 is one of my automotive weak spots. I love the idea of this thing, but am pissed at how rare it is, and also that we didn't get a wagon version.

If we got a wagon Speed6 in the US, I would have at least one in my driveway right now. This car does unusual things to my libido.

Open the oil cap and feel the timing chain to make sure it's not really loose. Let it idle for 20 minutes or so and see if it smokes, which means the turbo is bad. Check for any vibration when the clutch is in. Listen for a clatter on startup that thengoes away. Check out mazdaspeedforums.org for a full list.
