Finding an AE86 that hasn't been modified into a nearly unrecognizable state is difficult, especially when looking for one in Japan. Hell, finding unmodified used cars in Japan in general is nearly impossible. That makes this car so special. It's an 84 Corolla Levin hatchback, and it's the GT-Apex model (AKA the one you want). This is easily the cleanest AE86 I have ever seen. It's practically like new. It only has 43,130 km on the clock, and it shows, especially inside.

LOOK AT HOW CLEAN! LOOK AT THAT DIGITAL DASH!

Like the description says, it's now or never, which I think is Japanese for THIS THING IS EXPENSIVE. How expensive? $22,320. I'll let that sink in for a minute. It's more than a lot, it's a huge amount of money for a 30 year old car. But still, it's not much at all for being able to drive around in what may be the world's only remaining stock AE86.

I'll leave you with one last shot of that digital dash, because I mean seriously, shit's awesome.

I always liked the Levin front end better than the Trueno. And those wheels are fantastic. The only thing that really is meh is that red, well and that damn price. Damn you drifting and Initial D! I wanted one of these back in 03 and I should have found one back then because that was before the price of these sky rocketed. Now even a clapped out rust bucket is worth more than it was back then.

It's nice, surely the next owner will turn it into an Initial-D mobile though.

This is halfway to being my absolute perfect 86. It just needs to be the coupe instead of the hatch, thus being the lightest and most rigid version.

They'd have to install a Trueno front-end with pop-ups to get the authentic Initial D look on that car; I imagine that if you're alright with going to that much effort, you'd buy a cheaper and dirtier example to work from.

Kinja'd!!!

If it were a Trueno, all they'd have to do to - visually - Initial D-ify it is slap on some Watanabe alloys, a Fujiwara Tofu decal, and - if they're going for a later-season look - a black bonnet. Takumi's car looked mostly stock.

Strange movie, too much vomit.
Hopefully the next owner will leave it stock and stick it in a museum or something.

Huh? It's a TV series, not a movie. Anyway, yeah, I imagine the next owner will likely keep it in unmolested condition: it's the rarity of unmodified AE86s that gives the car its value.

I'm with you there. Even though I'm a huge fan of popups, the Levin front end just seems less fussy. I have looked for a decently priced 86 but with no success. People really do want insane prices for very clapped-out examples. Especially here in the states. I'd think pricing would be a bit more reasonable in Japan.

Webpage doesn't seem to work right now, but how does an 48 km Toyota Corolla AE86 sound?

Ah, yeah, I'd forgotten about that film. I haven't heard great things... If I were you, I'd take a look at the TV series. It's a lot of fun, and the animation gets a lot better as it goes along. Oh, and I'd stick with subs if you can: the original music, which they replace in the dub, is pretty key to the appeal of the show.

Yeah I going to sart watching the series. The terrible dubbing killed it for me. It sounded so strange like that.
