This weekend, my mom and I will probably go take a look at the Grand Cherokee, since my stepdad's been hinting at the idea of her trading in the jetta for a big family hauler like the GC.
now, my mom has never driven anything bigger than a Honda CR-V, so she's not too happy about it, but I hope she'll see how great of a family car it is!
So oppo, what do you guys think of the GC? and specifically the Limited (or mid range) trim level?

Size wise, the GC is larger than the CR-V externally but interior space, doesn't offer much more. You'll find that it's only *slightly* larger inside. Otherwise, it's a nice vehicle
Persuade her to get a Limited diesel.

I talked my mom into a 2011 GC v6 awhile back. Found her a great deal.
She had a lot of trouble in the beginning with it being so big, parking etc. She was coming from a Ford Escape. I almost bought it of her because I liked it so much, she got used to it and loves it now.
Really solid vehicles, the V6 is pretty meh especially with that 5-speed (I think they have 8speeds now?). I would opt for that diesel.

We have 2014 Overland. Love it, V6, 8 speed. Nice vehicle, and no, it's not big. At least not next to my truck, or next to my wife's old Murano. The short and stubby overhangs help when parking as well. If you get a Limited, add the luxury group.

This is what your mom should get, not an XE.
