That lady must love those biscuits.

That second one is really depressing. How do you get police reports from local police? Local online news?

Yeah, just Google it. It varies from place to place.

There has to be more to the second one.. a can of biscuits? Like $2? I couldve given the store that with the change in my cupholder! That is really sad..

Statesboro, GA. The university here makes up about 90% of the population, so everything beyond campus is pretty much a middle-of-nowhere redneck town.

Where in Florida do you live ?

Probably a repeat offender. I once was caught accidentally carrying $4 worth of stuff out of WalMart (I changed my mind and was going around to put stuff back, and one thing was near the door which I instinctively walked toward because that's just what I do when I'm going in that direction.) and they said that if the items had a value of $10 or more they would bring the cops in right away, but since they were less it counts as a warning. That means, though, that if I am ever caught shoplifting - intentionally or not - at any other WalMart in the world, it goes straight to the police regardless of the value.
Needless to say, I've become a lot more careful since then.

I'm about 45 minutes west of Savannah, GA, so it's not unlikely that there are plenty of people from Florida around here.

Saw it on Google Maps, SO MANY MUSTANGS!!!!!

That's bullshit. (What they said, not your story.) The crime of theft involves having the intention to steal. They can call the police if they like, but they'd better be completely fucking sure you intended to steal before they detain you to await the arrival of the police otherwise they'll probably be doing something like false imprisonment, or whatever your jurisdiction calls it.

Maybe. I'm just saying that, in the case of the woman with the biscuits, it probably was actual intentional theft and she just got the same sort of warning before.
That or the store just has a zero tolerance policy on things like that.

I once accidentally walked out with a candy bar (cookies n' creme Twix) when I was about 8 years old. I still look over my shoulder. THEY'RE GONNA GET ME ONE DAY!!!!

PALATINE
The owner of a 2011 Nissan Juke reported hearing a loud noise in the parking lot in the 600 block of East Constitution Avenue between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Feb. 25. The vehicle's owner later discovered a metal sign post sticking out of the windshield.
Weirdest one by me. O_0

Oh yeah. I was so outraged by the way they treated you (and lied to you) that I forgot all about the actual point being made :)
