Hahahahaha. Mostly we give up after a certain point. I am waaaay more responsive than most Gawker authors, and I'm probably too damn responsive. But I'm also trying to build a name brand, because as a new author (and a recruit), I need the name recognition.

I make comments on oppo posts that make it to the front page that I didn't even know were debatable, yet 20 people show up and type out paragraphs telling me how wrong I am.

I used to follow guideline 1...the problem is if you violate rule #1 then you are not likely to get FP'd. Gawker likes polarizing topics...or at least polarizing titles. My flamesuit is still cooling off from the BMW/KIA piece, but I wrote that intentionally to fire people up.

As for II- I usually ignore it or respond with something like this-

Kinja'd!!!

III is on the money.

Also correct on IV...but V has yet to happen to me. Like you I try to interact or at least "recommend" as many comments as possible, but sometimes it is best to leave people in the grey.

Welcome to the club. It doesn't matter what you say, if your for something or not, you will always be wrong. Just relax keep doing what your doing and f the trolls. I posted a Tesla article in which I say I am a converted Tesla fan on Tesla's forums, they pretty much went straight for my jugular. What pricks. But whatever, it go me more views!!!!

I just like to discuss car related stuff, and I had great conversations on Oppo and Jalopnik, but boy, there are so many idiots and pricks out there, posting unrelated, uneducated BS.

I was agreeing with them!! I like it and everything! What morons, except my uncle who let me drive it and take pictures, but everyone else f them. I. That's ridiculous, not every topic generates that kind of discussion

II. I can't believe you'd even waste time on this when there are so many other topics worthy of conversation.

III. You didn't give any real examples. If you thought this was important why didn't you really try to help us understand your point?

IV. One time a bunch of people talked about me in a meeting, and it wasn't anything like you're describing here.

If you said we lived in a heliocentric universe in the last sentence of a post, there would be people debating you on that. "YOU CAN'T PROVE IT! HOW DO YOU KNOW?!"

I think a lot of people don't realize that some content shared to the FP from oppo is just that - shared - and not written by the sharer. They see a headline that is normal for oppo and then all the contrarian burners flood the post to exercise their right to call people idiots based on single instances of anecdotal evidence from friends-of-friends.
