to not post this.
bonus points if you can tell what makes it different from most v8's.

At least make it difficult.
Polestar.

nope. lots of engines get names.

Is it the lack of a cam pulley?
![]() 03/10/2014 at 02:33 |

nope. cam drive seems to be accounted for.

What are you looking for. It's a 60 degree V8 that sounds incredible.

winner winner chicken dinner.
most v8's aren't 60 degree.

Those stacks?

pfft. those cylinder banks have to drink wrong-sided air.

Well the ITBs, throttle stacks, carbon fiber, and header pattern aren't that common. But those look obvious, so I'm guessing it's the narrow angle.
60 degrees? Or maybe something goofy(er) like 65?

60* and it makes the noise of angels orgasming.

Collaboration between Volvo and Yamaha for the B8444S engine, 60* V8 made for transverse applications.
This particular engine was tuned by Polestar for Touring Cars and a second example could be found in a Noble.

Triple that and add 4 cylinders.

It has a flat-plane crank, so hopefully it sounds as good as the Erebus V8. I'll know for sure in Melbourne on Thursday :)

That's a pretty narrow V8.

One piece cylinder head, not two separate heads.

yea, had to go back & check. it wouldn't make much sense to use a single head casting, but it's been done before.

with the VR6, natch

Does it really have a flat plane crankshaft? I have been trying to find this out but I haven't been able to find any proof. I know that the production version has this weird split pin crankshaft:

Well that's what the V8 telecasts keep saying so i assume they're right.
