Played a lot of GT6 today and I can't for the life of me get my car lower than a 44.8 at Daytona. Top speed just isn't there. Maybe the Carl Edwards 2013 isn't fast enough. Rant over. Help is welcome

Trust me I've tried! A lot of people say use only the first 3 gears but I tend to use 4

Use all 4. Run the least amount of downforce possible and play with the top speed of the transmission.
