The tux wearing drifter who drives a pirate ship is leaving FD for WDS, and has this to say:
This year I will not be competing in Formula D. Its a strange announcement to make, but to be honest, not a sad one for me at this time. I will still be drifting locally and all over the world, using my main car in the WDS China series, and my demo car/pirate ship for demos, fun days, all star bashes, all that good fun stuff. New opportunities that I can't turn down have been presented to me and running your own team in FD is a serious commitment both time and energy wise-my heart is simply not in that right now. Instead I am going to focus on my life and happiness and other projects. Thanks to everyone who has supported me over the years and for the continued support, stoked to find out what's next! - Matt Powers

This is a tough one to swallow. Matt Powers and his personality will be missed in the paddock. The 2014 season won't be the same without him for sure. Tough break after he really grew as a driver and program over the last few seasons.
