So while we know we're going together, my girlfriend wants me to do the whole extravagant "asking to the prom" thing and the idea came to me today. Her and my sister are on the HS softball team together. I am also my sister's ride more often than not because she can't drive yet.
What my idea involved was finding a way to disable her truck so it will crank but not start. I'm thinking fuel pump. I want to be able to easily fix it so there's no problem. When I walk her out to the truck, she always starts it when I'm there so I know it will. That works in my favor because obviously it won't start. At this point, I'd open the hood for her, tell her she needs a jump or whatever (she wouldn't realize what's going on.) I'm going to make something for under the hood, asking her to the prom.
I figured you guys could help. I'm thinking fuse or switch for the fuel pump. But is there another way? I need to be able to disable it and put it right back to normal later easily.
The truck in question is a second generation Dodge Dakota. I can't remember what year exactly. I do know it's a V8, Auto, 4x4. This isn't it but it's the same thing.

I've got a 2000 Dakota v6 4x4 manual ... you don't have to do anything it will break down soon enough!

"Fuel pump relay" is what you're going to be looking for on the wiring diagram. But you want to check if it's under the hood or an interior fuse. I bet money they put that on an interior fuse panel just to be safe. For other fuses that might be under the hood.....perhaps a "start relay" or some sort of starter motor fuse/relay/switch?

Why does it need to crank? Not like she'll know the difference. You'll be there either way, right? Just disconnect the battery terminal and call it good (assuming the battery is located under the hood)?

I could do a bunch of one leg burnouts with my ranger but that might take a while.
