And no, not one of the last generation ones that were a sorority special. I mean the early 90's ones that were used as rally cars. A '93 GT to be exact. A little rough around the edges but a good car overall from the looks of it. And dem pop-up lights.

Nice! The 5sfe is supposed to be a reliable engine if not the most powerful. I've always lusted after an all trac to complement my MR2.

A nice vinyl wrap will take care of those visual blemishes

erm..."used as rally cars"
we're being pretty loose with that term i guess. Sorry, just used to own an all-trac (which of course wasn't REALLY used as a rally car either) and it's very different from the FWD GT, both mechanically and as an ownership experience.
This is probably a good thing for your girlfriend. I remember paying well over a grand to have a new clutch put in my alltrac. Not a fun car to work on.

I guess I was implying both the rally cars and this are under the Celica name. Not mechanically the same by a long shot.

Nice! I also just bought a Celica a few weeks back!
I have a 86' ST coupe with a weird bodykit on it.

It's cool. I still have a little bit of "raging Celica nerd" in my blood from a car I owned 10 years ago, and now that i've had a second to think, i sort of feel like an asshole.
Anyway, the chassis code is ST184 for the U.S. FWD 5th generation Celica. Like I said, i'm sure it will make a great car for her to drive around in and they can be pretty fun if you're not expecting too much.

Yup. Camry engine = bullet proof.

She's coming from a 98 Camry. Anything would be an improvement in the "Fun" category over that.

Very cool! My first car was a '92 Celica GT coupe, red, 5speed. It was in immaculate shape and I loved it. Not fast, not even quick; honestly slow as hell. MPG wasn't that great either for a 4banger, but it was a fun car and it looked great. Plus, there's a shit-ton of sentimental value for the 5th Gen, being my first car and all.
And yes, that 5SFE is bulletproof. She should enjoy it.
