Friday I'm planning on driving a Mirage

Godspeed and I are possibly going to test drive a new Mirage just to see how bad it really is. Neither of us have driven a truly "bad" car so it'll be interesting. If we do actually end up driving one, we'll have a review on it, I swear.

If you dress nice and go into an Audi dealer, they'll let you drive their R8.

I've actually seen a few around here in Toronto, which sort of surprised me. What I'm thinking is that the Mirage is a cheap car, but it doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart. Which is why people have been buying.

Well I still doubt it would happen. Also the local Audi dealer doesn't get R8s in much and when they do they sell instantly.

That makes sense.

I went to a pretty big dealer, and the R8 in question was in the ugly orange color, and was there for months (it might still be there).

They don't seem "terrible" (let me introduce exhibit 1: my first car, a 1969 Beetle)... However, I bet the ones on the lot are all automatics. Let us know what a 74 hp 3 cylinder hooked up to a CVT accelerates like!

Another car to put on your list of things to drive and mock, check out the Dodge Avenger. It's a "nicer" (theoretically) car than a Mirage, but you will find it horrifically amusing.

Edit: As a point of interest, check out the website for the Avenger... it's tag line is "the fastest growing car in it's class"... so many lols.

At the Portland Auto Show a Toyota dealer offered to let me test drive an Avalon IN A SNOWSTORM (we took light rail to get there). I didn't want to find out what Toyota's policy on 'you break it, you buy it was' so I wisely turned him down.

It's a 2000 pound new car. I bet it ain't all that bad...just really cheap, basic, and slow.

I think the worst car I've driven was my first car, a 2002 Vauxhall Corsa. It was better in nearly every conceivable way than my Lada Niva, but was infinitely less endearing.

It was a fine enough car, it's just that's all it was. Fine enough.

Built like a tank though. It's been three people in this family's first car. I crashed it into a Honda CR-V and it came off with no damage (joint blame if you were wondering). I hit a 2-foot tall concrete drain hidden in a verge at 30mph and it just bent a wishbone. My cousin got hit by a Fiat Punto hooning around a car park. Fiat was totalled, Corsa needed a new headlight.

The thing's indestructible.
