Just a heads up for those coming to the World Cup... Expect crazy filth, insane even.

You don't think they will clean it before the Cup?

I think they might, but I wouldn't put my money on it :p
I mean, they haven't even finished building the venues yet.

Ahh.. Oh well, I won't be there anyway. Wish I could though.

I wonder if any Oppos will... And if I should write a PSA about the country...

There MUST be someone on Oppo that are going.. I hope.
And it would be AWESOME if you did that.

I guess you're right. Unlike what the government says, this isn't the best time to be in Brazil, what with violence back on the rise, and inflation and public turmoils...

Is it really bad down there now?

Yeah, a little. There's a lot of, huh... Opportunities for shady characters to take advantage of those who look like tourists and happen to be unaware, and the breakdown of some basic services makes everything more difficult.

There are some parts that I'm pretty sure couldn't any filthier than normal, since normal is saturated with raunch. I'm thinking of the canal do cunha and pretty much everything around ilha do fundao.
Are the touristy areas like ipanema and leblon trashy now, too?

Beats me, it's carnaval filth, so I'd wager the trash is concentrated around the parade routes...
