Is this wave of the future? Walmart has unveiled their new WAVE (Walmart Advanced Vehicle Experience) concept semi truck which looks very futuristic. It has a hybrid drivetrain which is powered by a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! electric motor and a battery pack. The trailer is made from carbon fiber that cuts weight of the semi by some 4000 pounds.
Something tells me Peterbilt had something to do with it though...

Problem. Where are you suppose to store the dead hookers?

That looks too strange...

something tells me they personalized colani's design and he should get 75% credit.

There are no hookers in the future.

I'd suggest, chainsaw and in the spare tire, that's just me though

What do you think that huge second area in the back is for? Pure cold storage for dead hookers.

If Walmart is really about saving money, they'd buy these ugly things from Russia.

Will someone share this to TruckYeah.Jalopnik.com

I laughed way too hard at that.

Turbine power is cool but I prefer this type of Turbine Semi Truck

That's no kind of future I want to live in.....

If they wanted to save money they also wouldn't put 50 cash registers in every store, to only ever have 5-6 open. Even on Black Friday they don't even use half of them.

That's great. Now they can move more stuff to their store, which their employees won't stock. Or, if it is miraculously on the shelf, no one will know where it is. If you do by some chance find it, it will only take you an hour to check out, because Walmart only has two check lanes open at 4:30 in the afternoon. I'm basking in the Walmart experience.

A giant carbon fiber trailer? I'm all for that. Hopefully such a thing would drop the price of the stuff to the point where I won't feel guilty buying some just to play with it.

That's cool as shit! I don't know much about aerodynamics, so ignore me if this is a dumb question.
Here goes: Why is it that truck manufacturers don't make trucks that look more like this? It seems to me that a truck with this shape would be much more aerodynamic than something like this.
Any smart opponauts that would care to chime in and help me figure this out?

The above posted rig is exponentially more aerodynamic than the old-school big rigs like you posted. Smaller cross section, and far fewer abrupt corners and angles to disrupt airflow. That big square grille/cab creates airflow separation and disturbances, which lead to drag. The new-style looks a lot taller, but the airflow stays attached and makes far smoother transitions as it changes direction, which makes it wayyyy more slippery.

That is the most wince-inducing name ever. It's not just a semi truck, it's a
VEHICLE EXPERIENCE
fuck yea it's like I'm already living in the future

Modern rigs are getting more and more aerodynamic. Look at the Volvo VNL 670 or the fantastically gorgeous Cat CT660. They're not as extreme as that WalMart truck but are pretty good.

Honestly, I think I see Alienware before I see Colani.

Based on the going rate of carbon fiber how many million miles does this truck have to drive with a 4,000 lbs weight reduction to recover the build costs on that trailer?
