Was this a brilliant idea, or am I entering a world of pain? The idea is to swap in the manual drivetrain currently in my decomposing Loyale

Good buy I think, not many of those around.

haha that is an awfully specific price. I have seen much worse bodies than that. How bad is it underneath? depending on the amount of rot on your driver you may consider fixing this one up. Dash looks like it still works ok.
Looks like a good weekend for sub $600 cars. Here was mine http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/the-weekend-15…

I'm sure it will be a bit of both. But why such an odd purchase price?

with craigslist crapcans, it's always a good idea to show up with 50-75% of the asking price (whatever the lowest you think you can get away with) in your wallet, and half in the glovebox of your car. That way you can pull the "I'll give you everything I have and take it away today" bargaining technique. It just so happens that i had some single in there to sweeten the deal.

looks immaculate underneath. Brand new exhaust, no off-roading scars. This is definitely the keeper and the other subie is the donor car.
That is a sweet looking Audi. My other cars are VAG and before I found this, I was stalking a couple of 200 turbos and a 4000 CS.

yeah looks like a couple of wheel arch repairs and you are out of it on the body. I have seen 6 of these up here in maine in the past year. All immaculate, and not a single one registered in this salty ass state. All west coast transplants. There is a brown 4wd turbo like this that blows my mind. they keep it clean all year, which is why it hasnt turned to dust yet
