Considering that I'm supposed to be at work in less than three hours. The bright side (if you could call it that) is that we're forcasted to get about 10" of snow, so the likelihood of going to work is rather slim.
Oh well, enough of this. To make this post not useless here's a Nissan 720. One of my favorite pickups, and the size I wish they would make again.

Where are you in the nation?
We're due for 6" in NJ, I am hoping it starts soon so I don't have to go into work either.

South Jersey. Forecasts are all over the map, though. It's been snowing here for about an hour and a half or so.

I cannot fathom that weather simply shuts off parts of the world for long periods of time each year. You'd think folks would realize it was going to happen and prepare so they aren't left stranded and helpless. If only such technology existed...

In this region's defense, we've had a historic amount of snow this year. After this snow storm it will be the second highest total on record.
Granted, I'm sufficiently prepared with my AWD Subaru and winter tires, but most people aren't. You have to keep a look out for the numbnuts with bald tires who go 20 over the limit. That, and if they declare a state of emergency we're not supposed to drive, so there's that too.

The biggest problem with that is that for the past five years, a snowmobile wouldn't be much help, and only even useful for maybe a week or so each year. Until this year. Now it's necessary constantly. We've had solid snow cover since before the New Year. Usually there are a couple of thaw cycles, but not this year.

And in California, we're having the driest winter on record.

My idea is everyone in the northeast should have a snowmobile. That way, it wouldn't be necessary to salt or plow the roads. If a major storm comes and you need to go somewhere, you can. The state (and thus, the people) save money. It will revolutionize the "winter beater" and allow you the freedom when choosing a car to know it won't be assaulted by snow and ice for half the year.

Trucks from that time were the best. The colour scheme is great, too.

I'll just share an insomnia remedy that I only came across a week ago, and so far it's been effective on 7 of 9 nights I've tried it (YMMV). Take one tablespoon of raw honey before going to sleep. It will make you drowsy quickly, and helps prevent the kind of insomnia where you wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep (which is what I suffer from).
Apparently the way this works is that the fructose in honey is converted to glucose and enters your bloodstream gradually, where it provides the brain with glucose and prevents your blood sugar level from falling during the night, which may disrupt sleep. For optimal effects, you need to take it on a fairly empty stomach, and it doesn't work as well if you eat a lot of sugar during the day (this is in fact what happened on the 2 days the honey didn't work).
I have terrible insomnia, and while remedies like melatonin and valerian root have helped, nothing seems to work consistently. Valerian root has come closest, but the honey treatment has been even better.
Anyway...The More You Know!
