And let me be straight up, if you haven't seen it, do it. Now. Here's a GT40 based filming rig used to shoot parts of the movie for reading through the musings below.

The movie is Grand Prix with James Garner and it was absolutely amazing. From the filming to the story to the racing, there was nothing that truly left a want for more. I think it may have found a place in my list of favorites and definitely made me wish I had lived through the '60s.

On top of the wonderful story/filming/cars it had quite a few very well written lines that definitely caught me off guard and did a wonderful job of really expounding on the personalities of the characters and the intricacies of the sport as a whole without making it boring to someone who doesn't care about vintage F1 tech. I'll warn you that it is a bit long though, right around 3 hours, but I didn't find myself yearning for it to be over as I do with some other longer movies. All in all, I would whole-heartedly recommend the movie to anyone who likes motorsports, or a good old-school romance.

Just saw this recently as well. Looks great on blu ray and the racing sequences are fantastic as well as the behind-the-scenes features.

There is definitely a film behind the racing sequences so it's more like Rush than Le Mans in that regard. Definitely required viewing for any enthusiast.
