The '81 (first year) factory Slantnose didn't have pop-ups.

Interesting. I didn't know this even though I was quite sure that all had the pop-ups. I guess they changed them due legality issues. In many countries there are minimum height for the headlights. In Finland that wouldn't be enough.

Yes, just learned this myself. You're correct (from what I understand) about why the change to pop-ups.
