Overspray from Black Magic tire dressing, I use an applicator but some got on the wheel. Good news is a quick re-spray fixed it right up, having doubts if this stuff will last tho.

I have normally painted rims, lol, and the black magic overspray loves to collect brake dust like no one's business.

I don't trust plastidip on wheels. Mine started fading on edges almost immediately, I took it off but I still have to take the wheels off and figure out a good way of getting all the stuff in the lug wells off.

I've seen many cars with plastidip wheels around where that are just peeling and look terrible. On fixed body parts it's probably okay, I had it on my hatch handle for a while with no problems. Wheels? Forget it.

I think a lot of it has to with proper prep and application. I know a few people around here that have taken their time plastidipping their wheels, and they're holding up fine 6+ months later.

Good warning, Lots of coats might be the key.

Well this was kind of a test to see if I liked the black wheels before painting them. I my go back to shiny aluminum.

They've got five coats but that tire dressing was like acid, instant spots. You can see where I tried to wipe it off right away but just smeared it.

I wonder what tire shine doesn't cause that effect? I'm not exactly sure, but road salt can't be good for Plasti Dip.

I found that out the hard way as well......I redid mine last year-4 coats of black dip and 3 coats of Glossifier. So far, it's held up very well.
