This is all we've ever wanted.
Seriously. I'm 6'6" and I fit in it just fine. It handles well yet it seats 4 comfortably. It makes all other cars on the road seem bloated, it's got a huge trunk, and it looks drop-dead spot on in terms of proportions and design.
50/50 weight distribution with a straight six in the front, stick in the middle, and drive at the back.
C'MON!

Bro, simplify and add lightness.

Eh, I've always found BMW to look boring.
I'll happily trade some cargo space and rear seat comfort for more fun and better looks.

You can pretend to do something about it now.

Your request seems to imply that we have any pull with the marketing groups and product centers who determine what a vehicle is supposed to do and what sort of people it's for.

Too complicated ! What happened to the trusted mend-it-with-a-hammer technology ?

Well, not with that attitude.

I'm talking about using the E30 as a template for everyday cars.
I agree though, this is not the perfect sports car by any stretch of the imagination.

NO SHHH DON'T LISTEN TO HIM ABOUT DIMENSIONS
I'm 5'3" and would like to one day experience a clutch that would engage without me scooting the seat all the way up to the point where I'm basically on top of the wheel.

Uhm, seats 4 comfortably??? I'm 5'9" and own an E30 325i, and no way in hell I'm fitting 4 people in that car on a regular basis (unless I had more/any legless friends).
I love everything about the car, and it's perfectly sufficient for 2 - maybe 4 in a pinch for a short drive - but it's no family car (especially in M3/2 door form).

Do you own the Coupe or the 4 door?

haha, we're on opposite ends of the spectrum here.

Coupe, hence my comment about it not being realistically convenient in 2 door form. As a 4 door I could see it being more useful, say for people with small kids - but not for 4 adults again.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the E30 and would be completely fine with them taking the exact same design, updating it to meet current day safety requirements, and selling it - I'll be in line for one this year.

The Coupe is friendlier to it's tall front passengers. Longer doors and longer seat rails. But yeah kids only in the back. I now agree after giving it some thought and recalling the last time some friends had to squeeze in the back. But if I were, let's say, normal height, I think my friends would be fine sitting in the back for short/medium trips.
Honestly, don't even care about current safety equipment. I just want a brand spanking new one.

I'm sure there are some barn finds somewhere out there!
Those engines are bulletproof and the cars are built so well - i've got almost 300k miles on mine and it's still solid as ever.
