A long time ago, my dad needed something to haul stuff around town and most of our gas-powered pickups (this included our big block Chevy) couldn't cut it - they were too weak and inefficient.
So, we needed a cheap Heavy Duty workhorse.
In comes the '03.
The downside is not the 6-speed manual (though my dad's hip gave out a week later) but the mere fact that it was 2WD - and coupled with the only mismatched tire (the one on the left), it meant that we were stuck in sandy beaches. Thankfully, it pulled our travel trailer with some ease.
Unfortunately, less than 24 hours of ownership, he took it through a tunnel and somehow managed to damage the the right-hand mirror.
We later sold it and got the '07, an Automatic with a manual transfer case.
It was slightly down on power (emissions system compared to the straight pipe in the '03) but it still did the job and this time - we had an actual 4WD system for going around Ocean Shores.
In '09, it was rear-ended by a lady in a Nissan Sentra - the only casualty was our hitch step whilst her Sentra wasn't so lucky.
