Did you hear that he's gonna take another crack at being Mayor? I dunno but I think he'll smoke the competition. When the votes are in, it'll be a slam drunk. Rob Ford will be Mayor of Drugtown, no question.
It's sad, I know, but there's a part of me that absolutely loves Rob Ford, and that's me speaking as a Canadian but not a Torontonian (not for many, many years).

The sad truth is, he's been a great Mayor for Toronto. Leaving aside his crack smoking, alcoholic socialization with known thugs and criminals, leaving aside the scandal and corruption... he was actually a good Mayor for the city.
None of that matters though, because the only thing people remember about Pee Wee Herman is that he whipped his Pee Wee out in public.
On a lesser note, it makes me wonder - if a person can be an excellent politician, but has crippling social issues, does this mean that person shouldn't be in public office? Look at Weiner and his wiener... sure, the guy liked to show his dick online and bang hookers, but why should that take away from the fact that he has an excellent political mind?
Even JFK was a ruthless runabout.

It's really how good politicians are at hiding their scandals from the media. In JFK's day it was so much easier to philander like he did. Today it is virtually impossible with the internet on top of everything else. I did hear Rob Ford was a damn good mayor too. A fiscal conservative who cut the cities budget and deficit. It's pretty sad that Rob Ford could accomplish all of that intoxicated half the time while our whole congress here in America can't do jack shit.

He hasn't really been a good mayor, though. He isn't the worst Toronto has had (lol Mel Lastman), but he ran on a platform of "cutting the gravy train" when the city wasn't in any financial trouble to begin with, he ended up costing the city $65 million due to activating a clause in the Transit City contract after cancelling Transit City—which was later re-started anyways, he's been avoiding the issue of the Gardiner Expressway completely, other than asking the provincial and federal government, he hasn't really demonstrated where he's going to get the money for a Scarborough subway yet.
