Nobody could sing a story like him. He was a national treasure with a timeless legacy.

I still remember the day he died. I sat alone in a dark room and drank whiskey and listened to him all day.

I have a friend who has a Johnny Cash song as his ringtone.

Johnny will always remind me of my dad. Here's a photo of the two of them together taken back in the late '70s right after they had lunch together. They met at an event my dad was emceeing and Johnny was performing and hit it off really well, probably because they were both from Arkansas. He was a huge fan long before they met, though. My earliest musical memories around my dad was laughing at songs like A Boy Named Sue and One Piece At A Time.

That's a fucking awesome picture! Johnny will always remind me of my dad as well. We used to spend hours cruising around listening to him.

This. As long as his music exists, I will have something that touches right in the feels. Also, I had no idea he covered NIN's Hurt. I always thought he had done the original and Trent had done the cover.
