How to mess up an MS-DOS computer...

Deleting EVERYTHING. . .

That command, typed at a very young age, is what started my downward spiral into IT work.

That looks extremely important.

I am glad I am not the only one. Mine was a Windows 95 machine though. I tried to make space by doing the following:
Search —> *.exe* (because those were big files)
Delete every single one I didn't recognize.
Spent the next week fixing it. From then on, I was the family "computer guy" and now I work in the lovely work of IT, since lawyer, architecture and Pilot didn't pan out (my three dream jobs since I was about 5 to 18)

I was 10 when I formatted all of my dad's floppy disks on a demo computer he was taking to a customer. Yup, now I'm in IT too.

Seriously. I was 8 or so, and my dad made me fix the mistake

You're not missing anything in the pilot part. Airline board member perhaps you're missing out on...

Flying and traveling, sounds perfect still.

Well....missing the kids 4-5 days a week gets old fast for me.

I can understand that! I already work odd hours sometimes, and even being "here" but catching up on sleep or errands is bad enough.

Regional or major? My cousin flies for a regional, and that's the part that kills. Also, the paycheck when he started.
Still, I still have the occasional thought of doing some pilots license work with an eye towards getting an ATP because flight.

They call it regional, despite the fact my regional makes enough money they have to call it a National airline and I do flights over 4 hours that sometimes span two timezones and over a border...the only thing still regional about it is the paycheck.

I think I know why you fly for then.
The whole industry seems like it's a nightmare. That's what really turns me off to doing anything more than a PPL.

So many bad memories of boot disks and screwing with config.sys to get different programs to work. And the nightmare of XMS v. EMS memory.
