You know that awkward moment when you are walking down the street with your new girlfriend and suddenly an ex walks by with her new boyfriend and you stand there utterly flabbergasted? I had that yesterday, but with cars.

A few months back, when I was looking for a first car, I found this Volvo 240 that I !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . It was only $1700. It would have been the prefect first car; one that is cheap, safe, and easy to work on. Sure, the air conditioning was broken. Yes, it had been in two accidents. Sometimes the speedometer wouldn't work. I still think the odometer was stuck around 153,000 miles. But I didn't care. I loved that car. I was all set to run to the bank and pay her in cash. Then, grandma stepped in.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I have to share my car with her. I thought she'd like it. The retro styling, the right price, everything should have been perfect. Sadly, she turned it down, saying it looked too old and slow. I was crushed. I wanted a beater. I wanted a cool first car. I wanted that Volvo.

Flash-forward to October. I am driving a 2013 Honda Civic that I am leasing. It wasn't my first or ideal choice. Yes it is brand new. But it is somewhat boring. It won't be standing out in parking lots. I wanted that. I'm not an attention hog, but it would be cool to walk outside and people pointing at my car. I should never have big issues with the Civic. That is the problem; I want them. I'd love to wake up and play the "Will it start?" game and have good reasons to run late sometimes. But I can't. And until I get a garage, I can't have a second car (despite constant begging with my father to give me his shed).

I saw something today. Something that made me a bit sad. As I'm driving to the store in my Civic, I saw a car. It was the 240. The car that should have been mine. I know it was the one. It had the cheesy chrome rims and missing trim pieces. And, someone new was driving it. It was like walking around with your current girlfriend and seeing your ex with a new guy. This ex wasn't one that you wanted to be your ex either. This was the girl that you wanted to be with. So, seeing this made me a bit sad. It sounds crazy. Maybe I am simply crazy. I don't know. Either way, it was strange. I wanted to flag down the new owner and talk to him. Sadly, I'd sound weird then. Anyone else ever have this problem?

just this week I saw my impreza that I sold and the new owner has made substantial improvements with apparently a bigger budget than I, I had a jealousy.

I guess this is like seeing the ex who lost a bunch of weight and married rich or something

Two things...

First, a better analogy would be for it to be more like a girl you lust after and stalk, but never get, then seeing her happily walking down the side walk with some other guy who is not you.

Second, I was waiting for the twist and the new owner be...YOUR GRANDMA! She told you not to get it so she could get it for herself and not have to share.

If she did that... I would simply disown her.

I had something kind of similar happen, I wanted a car at a local dealership, so we went to check out it. They apparently werent on the up and up and basically sold the car right out from under us. I saw the car a few months later with some douche bro driving it while smoking inside it. Was pretty upset.
