But all things considered, it isn't too awful.
This is why I usually stop welding after 11PM.

looks pretty good to me. (dark spot on the right isn't burnt through?)

Not burnt, just a side effect of the cell phone camera flash. There's a bump there (stopped there) and so it looks darker. It's actually quite shiny.

Not bad. You're hired.

i wouldn't hire you to build a bicycle frame but you can build my headers or suspension parts anytime! Better than me, i'm sure.

Not bad looking at all.

I've actually built several bicycle frames. I brazed those instead of welding them though. I've put a couple thousand miles on one of them.
What I usually do weld is things like this:
Late-night ghetto work I save for the less critical things in life, like manifolds.

Yeah, I'd hire you to build my next cage.

FSAE frame?

FSAE chassis. The fitting ad welding was done by myself and two others so far, and there's still a lot more to do before we can even bring it off the bedplate.

What's the expected frame weight? Looking at it I'd guess around 80 pounds, what school are you with?

65 or so pounds. GMI 2014 car.

Ah nice, what engine is planned? Wheel size? Aero or no?

That's plenty tight for brazing for sure.
