Aww yiss. I've been saying that F1 needs a proper American team to join. It would help immensely for its popularity in the US, shake things up a little and as it's Ford it would evoke the Ford/Ferrari duels in Le Mans.

I call BS on the Ford rumours. There is no Top Team available to run Ford engines, so that would be very inefficient - or would you pay big bucks to drive around in the midfield?
Ford is more likely to return to WRC or Le Mans - in both the chances of winning are higher in comparison to F1 money, and the brand exposure is also bigger. Instead of just supplying the engine, they build the whole car.
