It turns out that my headlights are available with either a black or a chrome bezel inside the lens, for a pretty reasonable $65 for the pair. I'm leaning towards the black but I'm not sure if that's going to unintentionally enhance the "bumblebee" look. What do you guys think?

I think I'd go with the chrome.

Black. I painted my own headlights black (of course I have HIDs, so I don't know how your lighting will be affected).

I predict that this poll will end up 50/50...
One of my original headlight lenses was cracked by a large bird strike at ludicrous speed, so I decided to replace the pair. I chose the black surround version and I am happy with the results. Of course, the 2003-2005 headlights on my car (with an integrated turn signal bulb in the corner) are a little different than the 1999-2002 headlights, but the cosmetic effect is similar. Stay away from the cheap-o projector lamps that are out there.

I'd go with black. You have black details already, so chrome would just clutter things up. But that's my opinion, and I could be very wrong.

I have the newer type on my car, but I went with the blacked out lens. Mostly because I have a black car, and it looks.... good? Can neon's look good? hmmm...
...
... Yes?
