Right now, one of my friends that I, from the bottom of my heart, truly care about is in a dire situation and as much as I want to help him…
… My family tends to stand in the way, even if someone’s life is on the line.
Yes, I care about my family but I also love my friends too. I just wish I had the ability to convince my family as to why they need help, either by myself or with support.
I’d rather die than lose someone.

Sadly, I don't know ANYONE in the area... Most of my friends are either in the east coast or a different country...

What needs to be done? A plane ticket or a trip of some sort. Get over there and then let your family figure out how to deal with it. If your friend is in need, you have to get to him. Saving someones life is much more important than your family being angry at you for a little bit.

i'm with everyone else here. go help your buddy. if you family has an issue with it, then i'm osrry to say this, but fuck them. a life is a life. + they will eventually forgive you for it
