This is the kind of shit I have to hear on a daily basis? The kid drives a 2003 V6 mustang vert. I can't shake my head enough.
EDIT: Because I apparently come off as a high horse douche, who's complaining about someone who is just getting into cars let me explain you a thing. I have lots of friends that like cars but aren't really into them. Cool. Fine by me, nothing against them. What I don't like are people such as the ones pictured above, who aren't into cars but talk car-talk because its "cool" and they get attention for it. I love cars and I don't do it for the attention. Sorry that I came off the way I did.

How old are you?

I can't stand kids my age either....
A friend of mine has a Clean As Fuck Civic Si, and I'm not a Honda guy but this thing is beautiful, totally stock, 6 speed manual, I want it......but now he has a cheap ass fart can on it and I like it less....by a lot.....
I told him just to save up and do a proper cat back or header back, but he is impatient and wanted it now.......and now the car is ruined in my mind.....

Just say "17 years old". Don't get all pretentious on us!
I have a 17 1/2 year old daughter and she's nothing like the others her age. I am so glad. No Beiber or 1D for her, she listens to AC/DC and Black Sabbath. Plus she wants a manual Miata or FR-S..
*wipes away tear*

Exactly. People want to look like their into cars by talking the talk or half assing things just for the attention. It makes me sad.

Haha I dunno, just felt like being formal. But that's awesome, really good for her to be doing her own thing.

Just don't wear a fedora and you seem like the kinds of kids we need more of!

I will admit my car is semi half assed.....All I did was cut the muffler off, remove the cat and kinda sorta drop a new engine into it.....
Oh And it's a Cobalt...
One kid aroudn here talks way to much shit, stirs the pot and gets peopled involved who don't need to be involved.....its just dumb, he has a decent car, its a Subaru, and its supposedly "Stage 17million billion" or whatever.....
He asks me what stage my car is......I have to explain to him stages mean nothing, especially when you build the car yourself and its not a direct copy of "Stage 17million billion", my car is engine swapped, catless DP, muffler deleted, and custom tuned, but it has a stage 5 clutch because I make 400 ft lbs of tq at the wheels.....
I don't get why kids my age pretend to be into cars and rattle can their wheels these dumb colors, or buy modded cars and shout "Built not bought".......Fucking imbeciles, someoen else did all the work and you take the credit....

Haha, you just hate people. These folks never go away no matter what your age.

Uhm, those people are going to be the same age as you weather you're 17 or 50. Maybe just time to go meet new people?
Question: do you intend to go to college?

Haha I will definitely not wear a fedora. But thank you, I don't really think I'm that great. I'm just really into cars and have distaste for posers lol

I start UTI in the fall. I've been working on cars for 3 years now and its something I'm really into.

You ain't a special snowflake either. We've all got to start somewhere. Just be glad they have somebody to set them straight.

I completely agree, and I dig the car!

Thanks.
It never gets the recognition it deserves, most people rag on it and give me shit.....but 12.6 in the quarter mile shuts people up real quick.

Cool. One of the great things about college is that it weeds out the really dumb kids (though it should be noted that plenty of really smart kids never go to college) but at least the dregs don't really end up attending in most circumstances.
Also, at a place like UTI I'd reckon you'll meet lots of people with similar interests.
Speaking on a strictly social level, college is super badass.

Hey now, maybe I can change a little. Hating people is strong. Lets just say I hate what they do and the choices they make lol.

Haha shit. I forgot you could find it through the hashtags, but yeah pretty much lol. I wasn't going to bring into account his actual self, but that pretty much describes it lol

Yeah that's one of the interesting things about UTI, which doubles as a reason I believe I'll thrive there. It attracts a lot of people that like cars. This ranges from people who, like myself, are really into it and want to do a good job to people who just have a nice car and aren't really good at anything so they figure that's what they'll do. UTI goes on a lot about their job placement but what they don't tell you usually is how many people graduate. Its about 60%. Because like I said half of those students aren't really serious and will go off and do dumb things that get them kicked out or slack off. I intend to get the best run out of it I can. They have all the sweet partnerships with different manufacturers and I intend on doing everything in my ability to get into one of those programs.

I don't think I am. These guys are just posers that want attention.

Just an anecdotal story for you. I'm 32 and one of my wife's best friends got engaged to this guy who I was told is a 'car guy'. Now, when this happens, since I'm also known as a 'car guy', the girls get together and decide that we are going to be best friends. Meet the guy and I can tell right off that he's not really a 'car guy' in sense that he likes the engineering or likes to take care of them or whatever, he's just a guy who likes fast cars. We didn't really hit it off, but I find out he recently bought a pristine <20k miles stock WS-6 firebird. That's pretty rare and cool to see nowadays and he shows me some pictures so I decide to go down and check it out.
Well, in the two weeks he had it, he managed to completely ruin the car...had a freaking airbrushed flaming skull painted on the hood, had a cheapo x-pipe exhaust put on, and got some ridiculous gigantic faux chromed wheels. I almost gagged when he opened the garage. He also told me that he plans on doing a custom interior with a tribal motif.
So now I'm stuck being forced to hang out with this guy every time my wife wants to hang out with her friend and as to not piss off the wife I have to tolerate his idea of 'enthusiasm'.
So yeah, doesn't matter what the age (he's 37) you'll be dealing with this forever. Best to get used to it and go wrench on your own stuff whenever your tolerance is tested.

Oh I agree, its just that while I'm still in school, I'm forced to be around them, though clearly so are you. haha.

I have lots of friends that like cars but don't really know anything about them and I have absolutely no problem with that. I have a problem with people, who really don't give a shit about car culture or wrenching, et cetera but talk the talk because it gets them attention. Like damnit, I love cars, and I love talking with anybody about them, but if you're not really into it don't pretend to be you just look silly.
![]() 02/18/2014 at 16:24 |

Yup, with co-workers, wife's friends, other parents, home owners association members, etc. you still get forced to be around people you don't click with... unless you go live subsistence farming in the mountains or something I suppose.

Yeah sounds like you've got your shit figured out. I think I speak for the majority of people who went to college when I say that it's much much much more fun than high school ever was. Enjoy!
