Kinja'd!!!

Used racing wheel prices are pretty up there? None of them seem to depreciate much at all.

Bummer for us broke folk haha.

I got mine like 4 years back for like 250 bucks. How much do you think it would go for now?

I have the one pictured. G27. But I replaced the snagging shifter boot with a non-interference crown royal bag. What?

Edit: Not for sale.

In good condition, ebay ones seem to be going for $200+ still. Maybe upper 100's depending on how the bidding goes.

I tried one out a few years back. After getting a good laugh I took it back to the store never to try another one again. Are there any worthy racing wheels out there nowadays?

Which did you try?

They say the G27 is pretty damn good, about equal or maybe in some ways better are the lower end fanatec wheels like the CSR.

If you want to spend way more, fanatec and thrustmaster make ones that are apparently really good.

Sigh... I keep wanting to get a G27 and build a rig for it with an old race seat, but I just don't have enough room inside for it. Next house will need to have a "play room."

In the mean time, my GT wheel stuck to an end table will have to do...

Goooood, very good. Although Forza 4 is a ton of fun to play with a wheel. I think I might just keep it.

DFGT? I almost got one for xmas, but didn't in the end.

I'd love to as well, but my biggest factor is $$. Too many future things I need to save money for instead.

It was years ago so I don't even remember. I was so disgusted by the whole experience that I pretty much gave up on racing wheels since.

ah, well if you don't buy a more expensive one I hear the experience won't be satisfactory.

A few things that are necessary are good force feedback, and decent pressure with the pedals.

The G27 I pictured is pretty much the go-to everybody buys, but ranges from $230-300 new.

A package of fanatec wheel/pedal/shifter set is like $350 I believe.

When I get a G27, that is the first thing I'm doing.

Yeah, one of these.

One of my first purchases for my PS3... then I was waiting forever for GT5 to come out. I figure I'll be ready to upgrade once I get a PS4 or xbox one.... which won't be until my PS3 or TV breaks (since my TV is only 720p, I don't see a lot of point in getting a console that runs 1080p).

How do you like it?

The only reason I am hesitant on that wheel is that I want a full shifting set with a third pedal, as I don't have a car to drive to practice manual.

Yuuuuup. Finally bit the bullet a few weeks ago. Wanted so bad for like 2 years.

Might've opted for a g27 in retrospect, since it's got better ff for gt6 and spins around a bit faster for drifting. But forza 4 and assetto corsa are aaaaaaammmmmmaaaaazzzzziiiinnnnngggg with this bad boy. Neutral 4 wheel drifts all day!

Gratz man! I'm jealous haha.

Is the FF really better on the g27? I hear it's pretty comparable between the two, and I've heard in some aspects the CSR is better.

Was just noticing this today. Looking for a wheel and pedal setup for the 360, and used rigs are MORE than new ones! Looks like I'll be ordering a new Fanatec CSR setup.

I will say that if you're looking for a PC rig, the Fanatec GT3 can be had for $150 to $200 on the bay of E.

Yeah those are a decent deal actually.

Still more than I can afford, I just look for fun haha.

I got a steal on a nice G25, but I had to wait months to get a deal that was any good at all. So yes, I've noticed.

Thanks man!

I've never used a g27, but gt6 officially supports the g27 and not the csr. It works fine for racing in gt6, but the csr appears to be really finicky and just a touch slow for drifting duty in that game. Countersteer even a touch too far and you're going around. This is true for assetto corsa as well, but the extra feel provided in that game makes precise countersteering much more possible. The level of feel in forza 4 is incredible as well.

Honestly though, a big part of why I chose it over a g27 was the pedals. I have the "csr elite" pedals, which feel incredibly substantial and have a load cell sensor on the brake. Weirdly, it's much easier for your mind to calculate pressure than distance and a load cell takes advantage of this, essentially turning the brake pedal into a scale. It's also nice and stiff. Since getting the wheel I have yet to turn ABS on in any game, as it's just not necessary.

It's roughly 100 bucks more expensive than a g27 with my setup though. Weather or not it's worth it depends entirely on which games you plan on playing and how you like to play.

Dem pedals:

It's fine. Just a basic force-feedback wheel. Never had any trouble with it all these years. I'm not sure how many driving games actually let you use the clutch (GT5 and NFS Shift 1/2 do), so I'm not sure if I'm missing out on my other games. Would be more fun though, an I hear the pedal feel on the G27 is way better.

Thanks for the input, definitely might help me make a decision in the future.

For reference, even though it doesn't work with xbox, Forza supports a clutch, as do most sims on the PC I believe.
