I'm not entirely sure whether Ford realized the "spitting into a hurricane" aspects of Falcon rust-proofing, but it's apparently a thing that existed in theory.

I think maybe they meant rust-proof in the terminology of alcohol. Not 100% rust-proof, but 100-proof rust: distilled to 50% composition of rust by volume.
