Having spent some time in Chennai (Madras) in South India I can say that there is a huge film making industry in and around the city. To class everything as 'Bollywood' does the other Indian film industry centres a disservice.

Bollywood is a generic name given to the film industry based out of Bombay, now Mumbai, which makes films in the Hindi language. India isn't a monolith country speaking one single language. There are about 26 states and each state probably has atleast two languages spoken there (I'm generalising but you get the idea here). And quite a few states have a thriving film industry that makes films in the local language. In fact, the tamil industry (which the previous poster referred to) actually makes more films per year than bollywood. So to club every indian film as bollywood doesn't make sense.

Hope that made things a tad clear :)
