Fiesta ST vs. Focus ST. Seems difficult, right? I mean, the focus isn't that much more money than the fiesta. So why not? Right? Don't be so sure.....I mean, if you want a bigger car or you want more power, then you want the focus. No argument. But on cost? That difference just grew a bit....
Right now, I checked the Ford website. Available "special financing" through ford has the following.
Focus ST - 2.7% for 60 months or fewer
Fiesta ST - 0.0% +500$ bonus cash for 60 months or fewer, or 1.7% for 72 months +500$ bonus cash. All of this is before any incentives such as recent grad, first time buyer, trade-in increase, etc....
Now you might get lucky and your local dealership might have some extra incentives on the Focus ST, but it seems like Ford is addressing the price gap (or the lack thereof) and the end result is some money being pushed towards those of us (like me) who want a FiST.

Hopefully these deals stay in place by the time I'm able to pick one up.

I ordered mine and what happened is when I take delivery, I get my choice of the deals offered at time of the order being placed or the deals offered at the time of delivery. So if you have two months, I'd say place the order now.

Idiot question here: what does "PSA" stand for? I've seen it everywhere but still don't know what it means :(

Does it really only take two months to get the car? I've heard mixed reports on order-to-delivery time. If that's true, I'll order mine next month.

wait, so if you order one, it takes 2 months to ship?
do you put the down payment "down" before it arrives, or when you go to take delivery?

I left nothing but typically they want 100-500$ depending on the car. Just as a "good faith" deposit that you'll take delivery. The rest of the down payment is paid when the car is on the lot. Since the dealership I went through couldn't keep FiSTs on the lot, I think they just didn't care and ordered mine when they ordered some more stock.

6-8 weeks lead time for orders was what I was quoted. I'm going to give them a checkup call this week to see if they have any updates. I placed the order at the end of january though. I know it won't be in yet.

I've read on a couple of forums that checking up is always good to do, they might give you info on it they started building it or if it's been shipped.

ok, that makes sense.
How long would it normally take though?
I'm looking to get a "Green Envy" colored one, and I just can't seem to find one in a 100 mile radius of my house
also, if you order it, but are on holiday when it arrives (planning to get it over the summer) how long do you suppose they'd hold it on the lot for?

I didn't order one, but it took them 2 weeks to find one for me and bring it to my dealership.

Is the Fiesta ST lighter? It's easy to add power but hard to add lightness once a car is out of the factory.

ok, that might also be a possibility...
good to know!
thanks guys!

It is about 400-500 lbs lighter. But while it is difficult to remove weight, it is even more difficult to add legroom. If you have kids or car seats, those recaros in the FiST will do you no favors in the back. Plus the Focus ST has more trunk space.
But the weight loss means the Fiesta ST creams the Focus ST in AutoX right now. The videos I was watching, the average stock Fiesta ST does most courses about half a second faster than the stock Focus STs.

Then again, keep in mind this was back in September, before every automotive magazine declared the Fiesta the greatest hatch since the original GTI

Here's a lime green one in Grand Rapids, MI
I don't know how close you are, but that is the one I test drove in the beginning of January and has been on the lot for a while now. They chopped about 800$ off MSRP on my fiesta when I ordered it so I figure with that one they'd toss a grand at you to take it off their hands. It may or may not be slightly jumped. I can neither confirm nor deny that I got air over railroad tracks with it.
But if you do go after this car, let me know so we can maybe set up a referral bonus. I don't know if they do one but I;ve heard of numerous places doing the "refer a friend and you both get X$" deals.

I'm still more interested in the Focus. I just need the extra space in the trunk and back seat (newborn baby seat).
But we will see when I'm in the market - I've got looooots of student loans to pay back :(

I'm in Seattle, WA, so it's a bit further than I'm willing to go for a car :P
If it was a 10,000 mile V10 TDi Phaeton, then it'd be a different story!

Just get a stripper model ST or a slightly used GTI. The Fist just doesn't do car seats too well. Especially if you need a diaper bag and go grocery shopping. As I said to another comment on here - Yes it is difficult to add lightness but it is even more difficult to add legroom. I'm a bachelor and have my own apartment. The fuck do I need a large back seat for? I live on the edge of a major city and walk downtown to bars and whatnot. But if I had a family? I wouldn't do it.

So, you want to get FiSTed?
![]() 02/16/2014 at 01:16 |

No. For I will BE the FiST. It will be my enemies in G-stock competition......They shall be.....FiSTed. FiSTed viciously and without remorse or apology. And I won't even buy them dinner.

But otherwise as a sports car the Fiesta ST is going to wax the Focus ST I bet you you could loose at max 100pounds with the Focus
![]() 02/16/2014 at 01:28 |

Correct. However the 2.0L ecoboost has a lot more room than the 1.6L so on larger tracks the Focus will pull out an advantage there too. But where handling rules all, the FiST comes out ahead.

That's what I'm saying, I'd pick a Focus ST over Fiesta ST because I want the extra space. I dunno about a GTI, I think I'm done with German cars for awhile. That paranoia of "what's that vibration?" or "did you hear that? Right there? Did you hear it? I wonder what that will cost" has me stressing every time I turn the key.
I need a car with a warranty. Yup, that's what I need.
