I've been trying to sell one of my '64 pickups on Craigslist.
I was asking $6500, made a deal with a guy for $5000 if I deliver it(it isn't road-worthy) or $4800 if he picks it up. He was supposed to show up last night to pay for it in full so I could arrange to transport it this weekend.
He was a complete no-show last night, no call, no email, no nothing.
This morning I wake up to an email from him offering to pay me $4700 for the truck.
Someone doesn't seem to understand what agreeing on a price means.

Reply: "No, the price is now $5000 picked up or $5200 delivered".

Nice short and wide C10. There aren't many with the big rear window left. I drove one of these as my first car, red and white too, crazy. Great trucks. Mind sharing the CL ad?

These are my worst interactions of CL. Fine, you can't make it. I understand. Life happens. Whatever. Just email, text, call something.

Troll him back. Tell him okay, and when he shows up, tell him you changed your mind, $5300.

When I sold my Fit, every single CL buyer flaked. When I say every single one, I mean the FIVE people who said they were either coming out at a specific time to drive it, or who had driven it and were coming to buy it. So I sold it to a very pleasant couple using AutoTrader. Even got my asking price.
Then a week after it was gone, one of the CL buyers showed up randomly at my house with a cashier's check. Which was for $1,000 LESS than what we'd agreed upon before she flaked.

Obnoxious.
I had one where I set up a meet with a girl to sell my wife's old Jeep. Been texting back and forth ok we'll see you at this place for a test drive at 5:30. Had to rush home, swap cars with my wife because of the car seat and at the time 3 month old.
Sitting there...sitting there... I text the girl, are you coming? "I don't think I can meet tonight, my mom can't drive me she had to go in to work and she's kind of mad at me for planning to meet someone to look at it" turns out she was 15 and need mom to buy it and drive here to it and she didnt have a license to test drive it anyhow.
fuck
traded it in....

I had someone try to do that when I was selling my MR2. We established a price, he had seen the car twice, and had already started paperwork with his credit union. People make my brain hurt.

Hey man, I can buy it today. I only have $2000 though.
SO sick of these type of replies.

Nice truck! Very had to find custom big back window swb pickups out here. Usually have to buy a long box and shorten it. Looks like a great project. Does the truck have a title? If I didn't find out my grandpa bought a project last night I would show him this.
You have to deal with the stupors but my grandfather and I have had actually some good success when buying and selling on Craigslist. I bought my current daily off there, and quite a few projects we have flipped for profit.

No title, guy I bought it from couldn't find the docs, told me after I paid for it and took delivery of course.
I can, for the right price, go through the hassle of registering it in RI and sign over a current valid registration(no titles in RI for something this age).

I feel your anger...
I have never successfully sold anything on Craigslist, whether it be a complete car or car parts. I don't understand what is wrong with people. It's like not you go to Autozone and negotiate prices or haggle with you landlord about rent amount and when it's due. Even when I put up stuff for free and make arrangements to have someone come pick up the stuff, it falls through or it's not convenient for them. A good example, tried to give away a Blazer K5 top, 6 people wanted me to drop it off!! 2 people actually showed up and wanted me to load it on my trailer, let them borrow it and bring it back later, sure take my wallet too in case you have any troubles and one fuckin asshammer showed up with a Escape and wanted to load it on the roof... I told him to go away. Ended up giving it a friend to use it as a goat shelter. WTF!!! When I do try to sell a car on there, I have people meet up at a grocery store parking lot thats 5 mins away from me, and call when they're there, most of the time no call (no show). That way I don't waste my time, I know they are kind of serious if they show and also they don't know where I live. I have a project on a trailer that I do the same for, not practical but I know. The no shows or no call backs are ridiculous, how hard is it to talk to someone. People that text me an offer, or email asking what's the lowest you'll take... I don't even bother responding. Fuck them, not someone I want to deal with, clearly someone who has no real world "wheeling and dealing" experience.
+1,000 on trolling them back, you should let them show up and then change the price on them, FUCK YOU! Waste their time for a change. I should start doing something like that.
I've bought at least 6 cars, 2 motorcycles and countless random parts on Craigslist, items successfully sold ZERO.
