It is hard to improve a car that is as near to perfection as the W108/W109 series by Mercedes. I think it is one of the best designs in automotive history and definitely one of the best 3 Mercedes ever built. The tasteful and somewhat periodic correct rims and steering wheel in this case make it look more like a drivers car instead of the classic, purely luxurious limousine.
I am absolutely in love with it. Photos courtesy of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

I am a huge Mercedes Fan (but not a fanboy!), and the W108 is right up there with my favourites: W108, 300 SLR Coupe, C204 C63 AMG.

Very tastefully done. A bit low, some sexier wheels, that red + wood interior! Mmmmmm.....
I would have loved to know more/see more of the mechanicals, though.

No idea, I have never seen such a number plate. Would make sense though as the car is RHD.

-And surrounded by barbed wire! Seriously, old Benzes are still respected, sought after, and driven in ZA

As demonstrated by TopGear, it is pretty hard to really break an old Benz. Perfect for Africa.
