I have heard from Canadian truckers that the US has a new bio diesel blend....and now it's hard to get diesel #1 at flying J's, loves etc. down there. This is a problem because the bio diesel has a lot higher temperature gelling point. (It freezes at -20 apparently). How is that acceptable??
Trucks keep gelling up. Truckers say they are having to put real expensive additives in their tanks, like 911 ( up to $18/ gal) per tank.
Anyone else hearing about this?

Not heard this, but with the crazy low temps I have seen many trucks stopped on the side of the road. Bio-diesel does gel at a higher temp, but I would expect that refiners know this and wouldn't make a fuel blend that would gel at -20!

You would think. But you would be wrong. I am guessing it's the fault of some regulatory sop to Iowa which mandates a certain amount of corn in the fuel or some such. Now you know what happened to all those trucks!

I am having trouble arranging trucks for shipments where I work. This may be contributing to my troubles...

95% of what I do, when it comes to trucking, is arrange trucks to pick up.
