I was feeling left out so I swung through Target on my way home and grabbed a handful of Hot Wheels for the kids. Others have complained about the lack of "real cars" and I agree, there were mostly their crazy fantasy cars there, but I did find a few gems. Namely, the Toyota 2000GT, 2014 Corvette, WRX Rally Car, and a DeLorean. The Mustang could have been nice, but it's a bit too overdone for my tastes.
While some of you like to keep these mint in box and just look at them, I believe Hot Wheels were made to be driven.

I got a 2000GT too, but I just kind of can't stand the color scheme on it so I put it in the back.

I love taking them out, but I love keeping them in the box too! Solution: Buy 2.

Yeah, that mustang bugs me. rear tires are way too huge. shame, 'cause I would have bought one otherwise

Well done. Have the Mustang, the AE86, and the 2000GT. I happened to find a red 2012 series 2000GT on Tuesday as well.
I also agree, cars in packages are no fun. My investment may not be worth as much down the road, but that's my cross to bear. I buy them for fun, not to make money.

I was diggin' the details like the little sticker above the hood scoop says "Rally El Segundo" (where Mattel has some of their corporate offices).

That is just the best little detail I've heard of on a hot wheels.
