Although, trailer hitch = wut? The front of this '49 Pontiac is missing at its original source, substitute is after the jump (identical other than flame job).

Those look like slapper bars instead of ladder bars. Very cool Pontiac. Great color

Ah, you are correct. Edit coming. I've never been quite sure what motivated Pontiac dumping the chrome hood stripe after so many years with it - maybe cost?
The thing I love about the hitch is that it suggests it's a pretty regular driver.

No Bunkie Kudson? Took over Pontiac around 56-57 and wanted the chrome Suspenders removed to try and remove the old person car persona Pontiac had. This wax the turning point that put Pontiac headed to becoming a performance brand.

Ah, a branding thing. I appreciate the motivation, but THEY WERE COOL. I needs some mo books on the 50's American car industry, to be honest - it's a thin spot on my shelf.

Also just kill time on YouTube all kinds of very good info on there. The complete American muscle car show is on there. I think they did a episode on the wide track pontiacs which are the first to have the big chrome removed.
