So I got up with the idea of heading into work for a little while before the weather got too bad. Freezing rain was coming down and ice had already built up on the driveway. I hopped in the Mini and headed out. Even with very light application of throttle and brake the traction control and ABS were working. Decided to return home after a lap of the neighborhood when I saw branches were coming down. Going to be an interesting day.

For those of you from the north who can drive through anything, I grew up in Seattle, Minneapolis and went to college in Indiana. I don't want to hear it.

The only thing worse than Seattle drivers is Canadian drivers in Seattle.

I don't care who you are, ice is hard to drive in/on. Unless of course you are Scandanavian. Than you are born driving on ice.

Yeah. I cancelled a road trip earlier this year because it was supposed to be 300 miles of freezing rain. No...fucking....thanks.

Yeah, I understand how much ice driving can suck. What boggles my mind is that people still go out and try to drive in it even after it becomes apparent that the conditions are too bad for driving.

It's just that we equip our cars with proper winter tires. Down there I wouldn't either. No hard feelings. Glad you turned it around. This way you make it home today!! Lol

We don't have the stretch bus going down hill sideways metric that Seattle has.

It's all ice and snow north in Cherokee County. I had already told the boss man that I would not be coming in to work. I am fortunate that I can work remotely.

And I am originally from Chicago. The people still there who bloviate that they can drive in winter have not seen anything like this. Its driving on a hockey rink.

Because we stay warm enough that when you drive over the snow, it melts, and then refreezes. Then it's all ice.

I've been in Gwinette County for the past three weeks. I just want this to go away by Friday so I can get home to California.

Georgia is crazy, man. Just crazy.

Yeah - it's gonna be a mess in GA, NC, SC, for a few days...

I was in ATL for work and scheduled to stay through today, but rebooked to leave last night - it looks like that was a good decision. I saw the ramp outside your shop as we rotated on T/O last night from 9L and I thought about posting a pic for humor's sake, but by the time I recognized the ramp/bldg it was too late.

Be safe out there this week. Even as a tried and true winter wonderland hoonigan, I don't bother going out in the ice.

I'm in Gwinett as well. Been an interesting couple of weeks. Good luck getting home on Friday.

grew up in northern indana, and lived there most of my life. This has been the roughest winter I can remember, and here in South Carolina, people cancelled school and shut down USC on the mere threat of snow. Good thing I have Oppo today, or Id be pretty bored.

The thing about ice is that there is only one way to safely drive on it. When in doubt, flat out. Of course having the proper tires is essential, and these tend to be illegal in most states of the U.S.

I decided last night to leave both the RWD sports car and the FWD where they are and work from home.

Best decision this week.
