My first car, a hand-me-down 2003 Hyundai elantra was to deliver myself safely in my first year of driving. My second car, and occasional beater still, the 01 Audi, was to teach me about stick driving, boost, and what to avoid in cars, but also, how to properly maintain a luxury/high cost vehicle.
I realize going back to the audi these past couple of weeks, that it isn't as terrible as I sometimes think it is. It may make some weird noises, and break a lot, but it would be great for some person who treats cars like an appliance. But it's just not the right fit for me anymore. If I heel-toe a shift, I just feel silly, not like I'm helping the car out.
With my S2K, I think I've found the perfect track weapon/DD/delivery driver that an (almost) 18 year old can ask for. It's a honda, it's cheap to fix, and it's a shit load of fun. That and it is everything I could use with my limited talent behind the wheel.
I do wonder, however, if I am going to look back on the Honda favorably when I eventually have something new. Will I look back on it as a young man's toy, or will I still regard it as a pure sports car, that's practical in very limited ways.

The S2000 is a pure drivers car somewhere in between a miata and boxster, and it has the best shifter on the planet!

These will be the good old days when you didn't have to worry about carrying cargo or passengers. I haven't driven mine for a while but I'll find an excuse to take it out for a spin later today, responsibilities be damned.

Yeah. I actually downsized, because I don't need to hail anything really
