Okay, I feel like I kind of need to speak up on this one. I like the mods, I really do. But it seems like the Oppo Rule (don't be a dick) is being generally enforced moreso if you're the second person to be one, like if you're responding to a nasty comment with a nasty comment. Or alternatively, if you'd has issues in the past with maintaining your cool. I am one of those "flagged" people so I've been minding my p's and q's, but I see every day how some people are taken to simply be being sarcastic, and some people get a "friendly reminder" to watch their ass. I dunno, I don't want to start trouble, but it's been bothering me and I don't want to blow up one day because I didn't say anything.

Actually, pretty much everytime VS Snaps back at someone.
Also my exchange a couple of weeks ago with Offroadkarter or whatever his name is. There's more that I've noticed as well, but don't know off the top of my head where to find them at the moment.

Since we're talking about a response to my post, I wasn't trying to be nasty. The OP was about how all the german cars are becoming the same, I pointed out a way I thought they were different, that's really all I meant by it.
Also, I wasn't offended by the reaction, because really this is the internet and we're all guilty of making silly comments at some point or another. All's good as far as I'm concerned.

Don't retaliate is the first rule of hockey. If you have to retaliate, make sure it hits home hard.

Eh, seems to me like he was being friendly and saying "remember we're here to have fun" not argue kind of thing. But I do see your point.
I have a very hard time interpreting people's tone over a text, for example. I always end up reading actions wrong and feel they are being passive aggressive, when they're just making a joke. So as a rule, I just type out my response, read it, and realize how it could be read . All in all, I feel a simple "Hey that's not how I meant it" or a simple "My bad", like Victorious Secret did. I don't feel it is being enforced more than necessary IMHO.

Yup. The second guy in always gets busted. I've been trying to teach my boys the importance of hitting first. ;-)

If I see a bad post, I usually just delete it (if it's within my power) and move on

What does getting "flagged" look like? Just a mod telling you to settle down?

Yeah it's not like an official thing. And I wouldn't say that you get flagged when they call you out. I'd say it's more of a mental thing like they keep track of you to see if you're really a problem child.

Well you didn't really take offense to it. So I figured you didn't care. But I feel like VS was no more snarky than you were.

We shouldn't use my yardstick of snark as an example to Oppo of what should be and isn't acceptable.
Even though I know I have an obligation to keep things gravy and above board, my snark is barely civilized.
I don't envy mod'ing anything. Cause whats the line? Whats okay and whats not? And more importantly, its the internet. I could deliver the single most sarcastic reply of all time, but if you can't see me say it it'll be misinterpreted as me being a dick, and that just turns into a mess.

If you hit hard enough you get banned.
Ask me how I know.
