I understand the commercial is a little offensive if you don't live in the United States. But is wasn't that bad. The US worked hard for its position in this world of ours today and if Cadillac wants to flaunt it a little bit why can't they? I though the commercial was smart and funny.
So Opp what was your guys opinion? Am I the ass hole here or am I right?

It's a good commercial, it's just that the wrong car is there at the end.

Never thought a caddy commercial would remind me of Band of Brothers

It does come across as a little smug...

Pretty sure this is meant to be taken tongue-in-cheek.

I agree but at the end of the day what country isn't smug about something?

Right? I guess he finally ran out of money.

Pretty ironic if that's actually true based on the commercials message. LOL.

The issue is that America seems to be smug about pretty much everything they do.

Yes. As a non-murican I see the humor in it and would say it is well done. No one can be that serious about themselves.
Is that a helicopter coming this way? Why did the lights go out ? Guys? Guys? GUYS???? Oh OK, for a second there I got really scar

He mentions a certain country (France) taking four weeks off in August, then says something about taking two weeks off in August instead. 14 days difference of vacation time, and liberals are flipping shit (I'm not GOP, just telling it like it is). The commercial is fine. It's nice seeing fewer commercials these days using sex to get our attention.

We're the only country in the world that's smug about the things we do.

Well, will you look at that? That's not your country's flag.

Well, being french and living in Canada now after spending many years in the states, I'd say it's a perfect summary of what I don't like about certain people in the US... The stereotypical american who managed to get a good life and thinks it's solely due to his hard work. If it were just that it's fine. I just have a problem when it goes down to blaming others and their "lack of hard work" as a reason why they don't have a similar luxurious lifestyle as he does.
Of course, this often goes with a rant on public healthcare, paying for "his own things" and "minding his own business" on his "property" because he is "free" to do so in the "greatest country in the world"...
Got tired of that and moved to Canada :)

Some people are just a little too sensitive nowadays I guess.

You got balls my man, it is a tad too cold for me much past my home state of Ohio.

Eh... That's sort of an American thing though. The US is possibly the only nation on Earth in which citizens are "proud" to be of that nationality; elsewhere in the world, there no such sense - people may feel fortunate to have been born in a certain place, or like their country, but never feel pride based on where they happen to have been born by sheer luck. Pride is earned. Pride comes from accomplishments.

Don't misunderstand me, I love the US, it's a great place to live in... It's just ruined by certain people that would be qualified as "extremists" where I come from.
My field of studies (political science) brought me with lots of people like this, along with endless debates and I just had to change and go somewhere else. I miss my life there, but toward the end, it was just too tiring.
This commercial exactly remind me of that life and those types of people. Sad, really...
PS: I love cold weather :)

This commercial is kinda obnoxious.
I'm an American with a high school education that has busted my ass since I've been 12 years old. My wife and I are doing pretty good, and if we wanted to-we could easily afford the lease of one of those Caddys.
Just not my style.
We tend to live under our means...we'd like to *comfortably* retire by the time we hit 60 in 5 years.

Go figger, French. You probably want to secede from Canada and keep your healthcare, too.
And that grille, could you make it any more gaudy?

"Figger" is not a word, American, "Figure" is. It has French and Latin origins so that might be the reason why you struggle with it... It's not a word "proudly" created in America lol
As far as Quebec is concerned, I just don't care, and yes, it is nice to not live in a place with the risk of having your private insurance drop your coverage because you are deemed too expensive to keep alive.

Didn't mean to rub you the wrong way. Just poking a little. "Figger" is a contraction? for "figure". It is a popular word imported from the southern rural areas and has gained widespread use.

My bad, was waking up and jumped on you lol
according to urbandictionnary, a figger is "a Filipino who acts just like a black person from the ghetto...but has a filipino accent, which makes it worse"... As for the contraction, I honestly don't know, but it seems to contract a word into another one with the exact same amount of letters no? :)

Probably correct. I could not think of another word to describe it.
