The Chevette i mean Corvair, Stingray against europe

The only fair fight here is the Jaguar. It's the closest in not only price but layout- V8 up front, rear wheel drive, no fixed roof.
Can Jaguar beat the Corvette at its own game? That's the question.

I'm sure the new 'vette is an awesome car. But.. I'd take a blue C4 over the new one any day.

C4.... Are you sure you have your Vette generations straight?

Yep.. '84-'96.. I REALLY want a blue ZR-1 (that would make it a '90-'95 right?)
I would not say no to a C1 or C2 either.. But when I was a young lad, the C4 was the coolest thing EVER.

I also dont see much in the C4, i really like the looks of C2 and C3, but for DD and for its power, id pick the new

The C2, especially the 1926 split window, is the best looking Corvette ever built. It's one of the best looking cars ever built, in fact. The C3 is a gutless pig- the Vette got hit hard by the 70s.
The later years of the C4 generation started to turn it around. It went racing, picked up a few tricks in the corners, and the C7 even borrows from the interior of it. The C4 ZR1 had the only ohc engine ever put in a Corvette, one designed by Lotus no less. By 1993 it was making over 400 hp, and the Northstar V8 was actually based on it.
So I see the appeal of the C4 ZR1, but the C7 craps all over it in every way.

that split window, and that gen is where the name stingray comes from right?

Yes, the C2 was the first car called Sting Ray (They switched it to Stingray, one word, for the C3). The split window only appeared on the first year C2, it was removed because the engineers thought (rightfully) that it hindered rearward visibility too much.

Can't understand the tied score in the best exhaust note department. The Jag sounded like a farty rattle can next to the Stingray.

Jag's playing their own game. They're comparable on paper, but not in mentality of the people who made it.

I love that the Stingray does all of this with leaf springs and OHV. It's a great car and I would honestly take it over any of those European offerings

The only C4 I'm interested in is the ZR-1, and I'd take that one over ANY C5, including the Z06. However, the C6 is a strong contender, winning me over in many cases, and I'd take a C7 over them all.

The C3 actually saw the most powerful engines in the earlier years. The 500HP 454 LS6 which made the Chevelle break all sorts of drag racing records could be had in the C3, which was a decent handling car with the handling packages.
