Need new wheels!! May I recommend these, they even come in 4-bolt patterns!
![]() 02/09/2014 at 02:54 |

Oh trust me I'd love to drop the $$ on wheels right now just can't. Gotta ticket coming up. I have 5 Steelies, 1 Altima wheel, and 11 SE wheels (1 on the car) and stacks of 15" tires so I'm keeping them around for a little while longer. I want something with a decent sized lip anyway. BBS Reps, or Work Reps.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 02:57 |
|
I got yeah. And that is a shit ton of wheels, but then again I guess it comes with the territory. Are you gonna be using the good wheels for street driving(if you do any)? Cause I would love to see a Work wheel on something other than a show car.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 03:05 |
|
Well by Work Rep I mean Work Replica, so not actually a work I can't afford 600$ per wheel lmao. What I want to do is go 5 lug and get a set of 17' wheels I like for Street wheels, Then for the drift spares (back wheels) I want some cheap 16's/17's Whether it be steelies or random oem Nissan wheels, or Some Mitsubishi Starion / Chrysler Conquest Wheels. Typically you keep your nice good grip tires and wheels on the front.
Edit: Also 03 Cobra Mustang wheels. Mmmmm
![]() 02/09/2014 at 03:19 |

To be honest, Work are over priced as it is. They are heavy and aren't nearly as strong as its competition. I would go and get some Rota Torques and call it a day, lighter AND cheaper. Not to mention I see a ton more people racing on Rotas than Work. I was thinking about getting some Rota Titans, but I haven't decided yet. Might just get some Gram Lights, they are only twice the price. . . only :'(
![]() 02/09/2014 at 03:23 |
|
If I dropped the $$$ for real wheels, I'd probably get fifteen52's Their 2 pieces start at $600 and their 3 pieces stat at 1000 a wheel. Rota's scare me.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 03:27 |
|
Jesus. That is a shitton of money, After 2 wheels they are at the price of some of Gram Lights offerings.
And Rotas aren't too bad for a DD car. . . probably, I have never had a set. I mean at least they aren't XXRs, they have wheels that cost 450 bucks for a set, which is nearly 300 dollars less Rotas. People drive them for miles without problems.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 03:33 |
|
I'd own XXR's. Like I said Rota's scare me, especially ones like torques, way to thin of spokes for cheap wheels, the fact rota cannot accept the fact they're replica wheels, and the fact they had a PSA warning buyers to look out for fake Rotas scares me.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 03:39 |
|
Well, I have always had it the other way around. XXRs scare me, but I wouldn't mind owning some Rotas. I don't really mind if they are replicas or not as long as they are strong, which I honestly don't know if they are. I just think XXRs are just too cheap to be strong, you know what I mean? Like 18x9.5s are like 700 bucks!

Thats why I like the idea of those Starion wheels, 16", 4 different possible sizes
16x7 +16
16x8 -12
16x8 +16
16x9 0 offset
OEM wheels with 0 offset in the most common wheel size. Count me in.

You need to build an autocross trailer:
Most are built off the cheapest trailer you can find at Harbor Freight, and you know if a Miata can handle the above, your Sil can handle all those wheels and tires.
But otherwise, I applaud your ingenuity. Hope the cargo hauling went well.

You're not alone with problems like these don't worry... Will most likely have to do it on mine too

Good way to dent your roof but my question is where the hell you buy all that for $40!!!???!!!
![]() 02/09/2014 at 10:40 |
|
I had to put 10 wheels and tires in my cavalier...stacked them inside to the roof lol.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 10:42 |
|
I wanted to do this but sold my Miata before I could. The Hard Dog hitch is lonely sitting in my garage.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 10:44 |

Great tip for doing this stuff. Back in my motorcycling days, I started using static cling window tint as a buffer for my luggage. You can cut it to shape, and it will keep you from getting all scratched up. Also nice because you don't get the buffeting like you did with the blanket.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 10:45 |
|
I've tried used tires a couple of times, and I'm guessing that for $40, unless you are building barriers at a go-kart track, the best place to put 11 tires and 4 wheels at that price is probably the closest dumpster. Those tires on the roof don't appear to have much tread left.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 10:48 |

I was hoping to be able to share an old photo of eight wheels and tires in the back seat of my B13 SE-R, but no such luck in finding it now. Bummed!

Q: How to fit 11 Wheels/Tires in a S13 Hatchback?

I loved Rapper Dan's "El Koukimino".
![]() 02/09/2014 at 11:18 |

No way man. I've bought 2 new tires since I've owned the car. Two of those on the roof are 17s with >60% tread and there was 2 more in the car. Other then that wasn't the best mill of tires. But I really only wanted the deal cause of 2 wheels I got 2 more too.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 11:19 |

The roof can hold all that? I was scared putting 3 tires with no wheels up there on my car.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 11:21 |

Used used used. Craigslist. Facebook pages forums. Only bought 2 new tires in my life.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 11:29 |

With roof bars yes. Mine too I think and I have a targa top. Without them, no freaking wayway :)

I had a tire trailer built from a 40" x 48" HF frame that I used for about six years. And for the last three I've had a 4' x 8' teardrop built on an HF frame. Both were/are towed behind my '91 Miata.
It could be lighter (that frame by itself is already 250 pounds) and I wish I had made the body shorter, but other than that it works pretty well. If there's no wind, it's stable up to around 75 mph, although I usually tow at around 60-65.

I plan on purchasing the smallest, lightest, cheapest tuner car that can trail a kart. Seeing this Miata handle a 4-wheeler makes my decision an easy one.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 12:58 |

I think you would have to be made of tires to carry anymore.
Good job!

Can anyone tell me what goes through the mind of an American who doesn't know where the dollar sign goes?
It's mind-boggling to me that someone can reach adulthood without being exposed to dollar signs and numbers in daily life, but I guess it happens.
I'm not even criticizing, I'm just genuinely befuddled.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 13:59 |

It's the way it is spoken. 40 Dollars. 40$. 40 Pounds? 40 I read from left to right, not sure what you people do on the other end of the planet.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 14:27 |

Would recommend converting to 5 bolt if your gonna be drifting or going to track days.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 14:34 |
|
Definitely. It's like 300-400$ for the whole conversion. They sell Hubs just for the task you just need wheels and brake rotors. There's 1 4x114.3 for every 10000 5x114.3 wheel. 5x114.3 is the Mustang standard size, so mustangs being a popular tuner car throws out a lot of options for wheels, that's the main reason you would convert.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 14:35 |

$40* just lettin you know for future reference, congrats on the steal!
![]() 02/09/2014 at 14:37 |

That reminds me, they said the FR-S was designed to fit 4 wheels and tires in the back hatch for track days. Can anyone confirm if it can?
![]() 02/09/2014 at 14:49 |
|
Yes, that's how it's spoken. But not how it's written. Surely you've seen it written correctly at some point in your life. There's not a shop in the USA or the UK that hasn't written prices on their products since long before either of us were born.
Is it some kind of protest against convention on your part?
![]() 02/09/2014 at 15:03 |
|
Well it's been a habit, but the fact it's become a sort of grammar nazi thing of the internet, I've kept it going.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 15:32 |

That is literally the perfect size for this car, I don't see why you wouldn't do this.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 15:39 |

More like "on a S13" than "in a S13".
![]() 02/09/2014 at 15:52 |

I'm planning on getting the HF frame (I admit, gonna splurge on the 12" tire one for $50 more bucks), and make an autocross trailer for my 280Z. So much easier than trying to jam it all in the car. Plus, my park bench bumpers are almost ready for a ball as is.

Was hoping to find a picture of the time I transported 8 wheels with tires in the Miata, they were retched strapped to the rollbar and stacked in the front seat.
Here's a picture of three bikes in the car instead. (One was in the passenger seat

Who cares it could be bitcoins or sitoshi's, still doesn't matter.
![]() 02/09/2014 at 20:20 |

When I got my tire trailer I didn't pop for the 12" wheels. But I did repack the wheel bearings shortly after I assembled it, and I used some good hi-temp bearing grease. With that and regular maintenance I never had a problem with it; in fact, it still had its original wheel bearings when I sold it.
But I did go for 12" wheels when I built my teardrop, and once again, I cleaned out the factory Crisco and repacked the bearings with good grease. So far, no trouble, although I have worn out the original tires after three years.

So it's a protest, got it.
I still don't get how anyone could make that mistake in the first place, but hey, do what feels good.

Any more info on the build? I would love to know more about that teardrop. I could use a little trailer like that for many things!

Nice going. Though you can always do what this Chinese guy did to the truck (though he claims "I just bought it"... )
Yep, you're looking at a 3 meter wide 17.5 meter long super truck... That's ILLEGAL in China. Normal heavy trucks has a max of 2.4 M width and 11.9 M long, and have 3 axles. This illegal truck had the bed lengthened to 4 axles, then modified to two axles, but the length is still longer than a railcar.
What's even funnier, the driver didn't even have truck license to drive ANY truck at all... and the annual inspection logbooks had been falsified.
The cops in China can't even fit it in the impound yard without a struggle. Took them half an hour and backing into the place to get it parked.

I test drove a BRZ the other weekend. While this wasn't part of my test drive, it does look like you certainly can. If it couldn't, it would be missing by the smallest of a percentage.

I found the side profile in an online gallery and used build instructions I found on the Teardrops and Tiny Travel Trailers forum. The sides and floor are 1/2" plywood and the roof is 1/8" Italian poplar. The windows, latches and roof vent all came from various sources online. It weighs in around 800 lb with my camping gear in it, with about 150lb on the tongue.
I have it wired for 110v power, plus it also has a 100Ah deep-cycle battery which powers the interior and galley lighting (the battery wasn't installed yet when I took the picture above).

Do you know if there are any 300 hubs still around? They were a cheaper option back in the day and have a common bolt pattern too. I haven't been keeping up with s-chassis stuff as much as I used to.
![]() 02/10/2014 at 19:11 |

There's no point, It ends up overall being cheaper doing conversion hubs, and 300's are also 5x114.3

I was rather hoping this would be an instructional article. Oh well.

I (mistakenly) do it all the time, just because as I'm thinking in my head as I'm typing "oh and these were 40 dollars" it comes out of my fingers as 40$. This only happens when I'm quickly taking down notes or doing something where it doesn't matter though. When I'm putting thought into what I'm doing it doesn't happen.
But really, it's a small mistake, this is oppo. It still reads as 40 dollars, I don't think its worth the fuss. (If this was printed on a menu or something formal thats a completely different story)
