Yesterday I read Flavien's !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! about diesel and saw most of the comments bring up big 'ol diesel trucks. So now I want to know how everyone feels about the thick black smoke that comes from modified light duty pick ups. Is it a sweet fuck you to Prius drivers or a shitty fuck you to our collective lungs? Is it bad on a bro truck but ok on a drag truck? Do you like performance diesels but hate black smoke? What does everyone think?

Who's the "retart" in this case? LOL.

I thought it was neat the first time I saw it. But now I realize that being highly toxic and pollutant for no good reason other than a bro reason is stupid. But I don't care in the end.

People who roll coal should be relegated to Prius DD duties.

The guy who has to restock tarts?

Anyone who "rolls coal" is a fucking asshole. There's no two ways about it.

THE WORST.
I don't agree with Flavien, but those trucks... not many car-related things really, actually bother me like those trucks.

I dunno, you tell me. :)
Great topic though. I think most people find it annoying as hell.

I think it's stupid. At no time have I ever enjoyed being behind one of these guys (it's always guys) and getting lost in a cloud of soot every time they hit the gas too hard, which they do a lot. In stop and go traffic.

Sometimes I wish I could dump smoke on stupid drivers, but really rolling coal is fucking retarded.

This is one of the few reasons I'm glad I live in an emissions testing state, you don't see these trucks, it is just completely stupid. I'm not a hardcore environmental activist or anything, but this is still fucking stupid, harmful to the environment, and harmful to everyone around them (pedestrians and fellow drivers)

Living in an emissions state hasn't helped the problem here in Colorado. I imagine they just detune the things to pass the tests. Either that or register them in a non-emissions county :(

I seem to be one of the few to not give a fuck.
It's their vehicle and they are entitled to do whatever they please to do with it within the confines of the law. If I see someone roll coal and I'm a police officer, would I pull him over? Probably, but as a regular civilian, I am unaffected by this since I rarely see "bros" roll coal and if I do, I just shrug it off.

stuff a football down a 6" stack on a cummins. will orbit. hahaha

It's too BRO for me.. people that do it around here are generally douchebags.

I just don't understand the allure of having these trucks. And there are emissions free counties in Colorado? I thought that if you needed emissions tests it was the whole state. It probably helps that I live in Northern Virginia, all the traffic, is someone was rolling coal they would stick out like a sore thumb and probably be ticketed repeatedly. I really don't know why someone would like a vehicle like this, it has to be a pain in the ass as well, all the soot and shit getting all over your truck

I have a multi-tune setup in my truck, and at the ~800ft-lbs setting it will make everything covered in soot behind me. I have never found it beneficial to use that tune, the first level above stock is more than enough for the 15000lbs that I tow. So yes it is retarded. There was that one time I thought the dangerous Ferrari driver with his windows down deserved to be smoked...but that was childish and only mildly hilarious.

Yeah, emissions is county specific here. For the longest time, Weld county (just north of Denver) was emissions free; it was normal for people to get a PO box there to register their vehicles. The fun part is that counties can switch in and out of emissions requirements at little notice; Weld and Larimer counties did this a few years back and tons of vehicles got tossed off the roads :)

Extraordinarily gay. Also when did bros with flat bills and rockstar murals get into diesel trucks? I dont really get it. Are they trying to tell the world just how much ccrap they could tow if they needed to.

Just another douchebag ricer, stance, brotruck form of automotive "expression".
![]() 02/07/2014 at 13:00 |

not really, because all stancer and ricers do is mess up their own stuff. Bros ruin other peoples stuff.

One word . . . .
Juvenile.
![]() 02/07/2014 at 13:33 |

That is pretty funny stuff, but it should just be all emissions really, kind of defeats the purpose if some are exempt and some aren't.

Well you guys know my point of view already... I really don't like diesels but I managed to live with them... These things are just ridiculous and plain stupid thoughthough. They just should be banned plain and simple.

If their engine runs fine while doing it (which, as far as I know, is unlikely), then great, go for it, I don't honestly give a shit.
If they are making their engine run shitty just so they can blow black smoke, they're a fucking moron...but still, I don't give a shit...aside from the fact that some of us have idling issues that we don't want.

NJ is emissions only. And these trucks are still everywhere. All you have to do is know which 'shop' to go to and get inspected.

Stancers and ricers ruin cars that could be put to good use
![]() 02/08/2014 at 02:06 |

Diesels run fine when they smoke. All it is is them shoving in way too much fuel.
![]() 02/08/2014 at 20:20 |

I think there's a federal requirement for emissions testing, based on population (possibly pop. density). Not all counties in WA or VT require testing, for example. State standards like CA are typically more stringent than federal.

Yep, shooting video in portrait mode is absolutely, unquestionably douchey!

That, and they think that performance is proportional to all the cheesy mods they slap on.

It looks somewhat cool but how is this legal? Was wondering about coloured smoke (like from jet planes) and basically it seems it cannot be implemented in car engines due to exhaust gas temp being too low . So, what if the exhaust itself was heated? This rolling coal doesn't look efficient anyway so what if a bit of fuel was ignited in the exhaust to allow for sufficient heat to add colourants??
![]() 02/19/2015 at 08:17 |

well I think everybody needs to slow down. The "coal" that comes out is just carbon which is everywhere anyways and it falls back down to earth. judging how dangerous smoke is by color is just ignorant and stupid. The poisonous gasses that pollute the atmosphere are not even gonna be visible.
